I have now gone twice. I didn't feel like the workout was watered down, but ask me in a month. I was starting to feel like it was repetitive (although still challenging) prior to CVD. They also pulled the machines as much as they could toward either mirror; I don't feel like it's overly unsafe. Also a few machines purposefully left vacant helps. I thought I had done a really good job staying in shape, and it was still super hard. Like hard in the first 3 minutes. Finally, I have 26 classes left in my pack, so take that for what it's worth. |
I'd taken nearly 500 classes pre-COVID, and it was always hard in the first three minutes. That just means you're doing it right, PP! Damn, I miss it: the workout and the people. |
Please do! I told them (doubt it did much). |

I have almost 900 classes. I miss the in-studio workouts terribly (though have gotten the hang of the sliders and learned how to make the at-home classes work pretty well for me). Despite the protests of my family, I went to class this morning because I needed to experience a class before being able to make a decision about my membership.
Everyone was wearing masks until one minute before class started. I considered trying class with my mask on, but I knew how much harder it would be, so I went without (like everyone else except the coach). The workout itself was still hard, and that part was great. I didn't miss the army crawls. I did note though that coaches can no longer change springs for you and although that's not a huge deal for experienced clients, I still like the personalized attention that means coaches can add springs to keep challenging you (in upper body mostly). When I walked in, I was pretty sure that even if I was uncomfortable, I'd find a way to rationalize it. But a funny thing happened halfway through. Maybe it was the sweat dripping off of me or maybe it was the fact that I heard someone cough...but I realized that I didn't feel like this was a safe space given that this virus is still very real. I am required to wear a mask in every other indoor business I go to these days, and people generally aren't breathing heavily and sweating at grocery stores and restaurants. And of course I realize we each decide how much risk to take on, etc. But I don't think I can go back, at least without wearing a mask during the workout. Sure, the measures that solidcore has taken to turn machines have made the workout a little safer, but I'm not convinced it's enough. I usually put a good workout above almost everything, but I just can't. What bugs me the most is that so many of their clients are buying it hook, line and sinker. I'll be watching closely to see if anything changes in states where COVID-19 rates are rising rapidly--will solidcore stay open in Florida? |
Thank you for this honest review. I too am watching closely what happens. I don’t think I’ll be back until 2021 .
|
| Agree. I love SC but, given all the helpful feedback here, it is clearly too much of a risk to return. |
| When did they open in the DMV? |
Last week or so, I believe. |
| Add to that, they said my acct was frozen and I was charged today full amount. What a hassle. |
|
So now that we are moving into phase 3 on July 1 (va), are they going to go from just 13 of their machines back to a full 14?
|
I was wondering this as well and assume they will. |
We’re in phase 2 and just opened. They said there is no reduction in class size now. |
My local studio is not in VA, but is booking at full capacity. It's one of the reasons I'm not going. I'm frustrated that at this point they don't seem to even be following the local rules at all. |
| They just announced that masks are required entering and exiting all studios. Seems a little behind the times, |
Because people complained it wasn’t being enforced. |
