How are they fitting 13 people in their studios and still complying with the guidelines?
I want to go back, but their description of front to back facing to maintain 6 ft distance is not making sense to me. |
| Looks like the classes are booking up. Even with the machines adequately spaced I’m not sure it’s possible to make that kind of tight indoor space low risk for transmission. The summer offers so many outdoor options I’ll probably stick with that for now, although I’m definitely envious of those who are comfortable jumping back in. There’s not a real at-home substitute for solidcore. |
| I think if they’re complying with the guidelines, it’s by the skin of their teeth. Between that, and the risk to coaches, I’m not going back anytime soon. I miss it, but no. |

I thought all gyms had to be at 30% capacity if they opened.
The max number in the studio pre- Covid was 14-15. How is 13 keeping it at 30%? |
| Maybe the space itself has an occupancy capacity that far exceeds 13? Does the governor’s order specify what the baseline is for measuring the 30%? |
| I’ve been going for a very long time (around 700 classes in) and it is the last thing I will return to unless I’m in a private class with people I know. I miss it so very much but way too risky. |
I am of a similar mindset. I understand they are trying to get back to business asap and that people are willing to take the risk, but I don’t think they are handling it very responsibly. There is no way they can comply with CDC guidelines, best practices etc. My studio was never that clean to begin with. I miss the workout so much though! |
| Poorly ventilated indoor spaces are basically the highest risk environment out there. If someone is fine reentering that environment at this stage, I imagine they’re also engaging in other activities I would consider high risk and maybe not social distancing in a meaningful way. How long before you start hearing from a contact tracer following a class? Love solidcore, but the reopenings are for economic reasons, not because it’s now safe. |
Pretty much this. |
Probably this. I went this morning. 14 machines, but signups capped at 11. Exercises are limited to those where you face away from each other, i.e. no carriage lunges. It was fine, but on Saturday mornings where you are in the 4th class in a row the air starts to stagnate. That's where I perceive risk. |
So their " 6 feet" is just people facing in opposite directions on the platform? Like head and tails? That's not physically 6 feet apart, that's just heads 6 feet apart, barely. I really want to go back but even just before the lockdown, they were really careless with health. Emails went out about no fist bumps instead of high fives, but teachers were still high fiving the clients. One teacher I had kept talking about oh well gotta live life. One class us clients had spaced out onto every other platform (there were only 4 of us in the class) and the teacher came in moved us all right next to one another. This was right around March 13 when people were starting to take precautions. |
DP, but I don't think 11 people (12, counting the coach) in those small spaces is fine. I also have zero interest in paying the regular price when the moves are that limited. No carriage lunges or assisted split squats? Bah. |
| I too am a devotee and miss it terribly, but am very torn. I keep thinking about how one of the concessions solidcore could have made in March and again now would be to waive late cancel fees to reduce the risk that someone shows up to a studio unwell. It would be both a good will and good public health gesture. |
| I wish I felt comfortable with their plan, but I don’t. I also am not even sure it complies with the rules/regs in some places. That being said, I miss it so much, I’d probably buy a machine and stream classes if that was an option. |

I’m sorry but you’re at risk the first class of the day, and saying it’s not until the 4th class on a Saturday that you’re risk is unacceptable is ridiculous. COVID is spread through not just droplets but through aerosolized fluids—sweating, flinging your body back and forth on the machine, breathing heavily, touching everything—it’s completely unsafe and people will get sick and possibly die from it. I was disappointed they their email said they were restarting memberships without even asking if people felt safe doing it (I’d cancelled early into covid, right before quarantine).
I get it—Anne should have sold that company before this. She’s out millions of dollars. But seriously... |
