Jussie Smollett attacked

Anonymous
The whole thing sounds super fake and I worry someone attacked him pretending to be a right-wing racist/homophobe. Not saying he would have known about it, but it just seems really fake. I don't think pouring bleach on people is a thing racists do.

smh, I guess nothing should really surprise me anymore.

No they are not. Posters have been implying this was a planned attack. Someone set him up.

DP. Read the first page again, starting with the third comment, and the fifth. People were literally saying that they don't *necessarily* think he's not an innocent victim, but they want to hear more, etc.

And? No one here knows who may have been involved, but the incident as reported sounds like it was absolutely premeditated rather than random.

Right, but thats not the topic being addressed by the OP in this subthread. People are literally implying that he was up to no good, that they need to hear the whole story, that he may not be innocent. What are you missing?

I’m missing nothing, but apparently you are.

Anonymous wrote:So this guy arrives in Chicago late Monday, and a few hours later there are a couple of guys who recognize him and happen to have a noose and bottle of bleach on them.

I’m not necessarily doubting that he’s an innocent victim, but someone set this up.

Do you see the bolded? Again, I ask, what would a reasonable person take from this statement? That statement casts doubt on his innocence. You're either being willfully ignorant of the implication here, or you're the PP who wrote it.

And why are you so invested in the idea of his innocence? Assuming that no one involved in this discussion knows him, or knows more than what has been covered in this thread, it shouldn’t be shocking to anyone that a publicity stunt would be one of the possible scenarios.

+1

And who carries around bleach?

I agree. I’m a little skeptical. The “this is MAGA county” comment seems made up to me.

Exactly. It will be interesting to hear the entire story and all of the facts. Also, security cam footage.

Ah, and now, predictably, you're moving the goal posts. You went from denying that anyone here was implying guilt, to now arguing that this would be a reasonable conclusion. Not surprising. OP in this subthread was right.

I’m one of the PP’s who suggested people wait for a bit more reporting to be done. I felt the same about the blonde white female (in CA, I think?) who claimed she was kidnapped by some brown men. Something feels a little off.

Why are you intentionally not reading the entire sentence that you have bolder. The sentence clearly states that “someone set him up.”

Doesn't even have to be his inner circle. Even a throwaway post on social media (him posting about being in Chicago, someone hashtagging a sighting, whatever) could have given his location away. Does Empire film in Chicago? That would make it even more obvious.

Sounds like what an unimaginative high school student might cook up as a staged racial attack......the only trope missing was the confederate flag.
Anonymous
Sounds like someone had a personal vendetta against him and knew where he was going to be. I have a hard time believing two random dudes were walking around with a noose and bleach and just happened to recognize a gay actor and decide to attack him. They were following him specifically.

Especially since it occured in Chicago.
