Why The Loony Left In Maryland?

What BS? Give concrete examples.

When my friends - white men that are socially left-of-center - say stuff like this, it's usually because they are upset about "cultural signalling" issues - i.e., the rise of minorities and women in the Democratic party. I have a lot of white, male friends who are socially liberal and are very bitter about white men losing power in the Democratic party. They feel "lost" but can't honestly articulate why they are feeling that way.

Like voting to spend Montgomery taxpayer funds for a defense fund for illegal/undocumented immigrants who are accused of crimes...

Like making stupid laws for every little thing, like having to ask permission from the county to even airbnb your house out while you're on vacation..

Like generally focusing on sending signals to everyone about how virtuous they are with their great ambitions to save everyone from some lack of privilege while letting jobs and money drain out of the county..

I don't think that there is anything wrong with the rise of women and minorities in the democratic party. I do think that on some social issues the left is outpacing me and I can't keep up with them, though.

I’m sorry, but why do you have to wait? Aren’t you afraid your children will be indoctrinated in the liberal agenda in Montgomery County schools? Surely if it were that important you could move now!

It's funny - they want the excellent education for their kids at public schools in wealthy, liberal enclaves (MD, NJ, MA) but they despise all their neighbors, the teachers, local politicos, and the lopsided majority that supports D candidates.

Honestly? I think they just love seeing themselves as a victim and living with a siege-mentality. Their id is driven by fear.

You tip your hand here, OP. The only people who talk about "racial agitators" are racists.

Plus this nice turn of phrase...

Their brillo-haired Congressman, Jamie Raskin, made it his first priority in office to try to arrange a coup to overthrow our democratically elected President.

...yes OP, we get it you don't like Jewish Democrats.

+1

Disgusting.

OP, you are not alone in your sentiments about MD. As a Black conservative I am worried about the lower middle class whites and poor whites/blacks being unable to find jobs due the under cutting of wages via illegal immigrants who are employed and often under inhumane conditions. I am worried about the public educational system across the country and the idea that many illegal immigrants come across the border without papers and proper vaccination (though I heard they get vaccinated in detention centers). I am worried that the wealthy benefit from the idea of flooded cheap labor so that they can begin to depress wages for all of us not in the top 10% of workers. I am worried that another civil war will break out because of the media and both sides becoming increasing intolerant of each other, meanwhile China and Russia could potentially invade while we are fighting each other. I am worried that we are becoming so divided that we are falling apart. Many other Black people share this sentiment, we often discuss this among ourselves.

eh... I left the R because they became too right wing, letting people like Miller and Bannon take over.

The south used to be mostly Democrats in the form of Dixiecrats. Political parties have changed. They have both become way too extreme.

I'm a Christian, too, and there is no way I'd vote for someone like Trump. I don't have a bottomless pit of mulligans.

You don't do yourself any favors when you lie and twist the truth about how that money will be spent.

Please read here and then come back to this thread to give us a book report: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/md-politics/dozens-speak-about-public-funding-for-immigration-defense/2018/05/01/3589bf70-4ca3-11e8-af46-b1d6dc0d9bfe_story.html?utm_term=.a5b4bb7cf460

There was A LOT of public debate about that money. Both sides were heard. And it's not for "criminals" - its for families being broken up by this Administration. If you want to be a bootlicker, go move to the otherside of the Bridge.

I worry about this too but actually it’s not illegal immigrants, it’s any immigrants. Legal seasonal visa holders are the bigger issue for what you describe.

Not OP. I'm a Jew. Raskin has hair like a brillo pad. I do not. My hair is stick straight. All Jews don't have brillo pad type hair. It's not a racial slur. It's a description.

Hogan has the power - right now - to help ICE raid local businesses, asking for more documentation, and levy big fines against business owners and consumer who use undocumented workers. Why hasn't he?

Possibly because he (Hogan) is trying to delicately balance the fat left and appease moderates. Hogan is remarkably much better than what would Jealous would bring. Far easier on the taxes too than what Jealous is proposing.

That darn due process. Darn Constitution, too.

Of course, the day someone accuses you of.... stuff..... that should invalidate YOUR due process, I'm sure you'd be aghast.

"Far easier on taxes" = Maryland school rankings have dropped every year since Hogan was elected. And no, it's not due to "illegals"; it's due to his budget cuts to state education.

This is what Jealous will be hammering throughout the fall. And it's a winning strategy.

From the article the other poster shared:

"Immigration violations are civil, not criminal, matters, so those facing deportation are not entitled to public defenders."

So we are spending public funds on the civil matters of non-citizens.

While we're funding people's civil matters, I wouldn't mind the county paying for my lawyer whenever I have to sue someone in small claims court.
