Actually, a TON of those folks are also from Takoma Park and Silver Spring. But your analogy to business is flawed, because it assumes there is some sort of barrier to entry for candidates from other parts of the county. Are you ready to claim that the Montgomery County Democrats, and the broader Maryland Democratic Party, are systematically disenfranchising candidates who are not from Takoma Park? |

Let me indulge for a second and ignore the potential racial undertones and assume that your problem with Raskin, Jealous, and Elrich has nothing to do with them being black or Jewish.
The reason why people like Raskin and Jealous and Elrich get elected (or at least nominated) is simple. Montgomery IS indeed a one-party, and most people know that, and many moderate conservatives register as Democrats so they can have a say in the primary. These people do not however outweigh the solidly left Takoma Park base that votes as a bloc. These people back the most left-wing candidates year after year, and time after time, moderates never learn, and they won’t collaborate and rally behind one person, instead, they split the vote. Raskin one a plurality over Matthews and Trone. Elrich won barely in a six-way primary, where most candidates were more pro-business. The truth is, most people in Montgomery County do NOT like Marc Elrich and do not identify with his wing of the Democratic Party (which should be the Socialist Party to be honest). We regard him as an obese buffoon who will scare business away, we’ve all but lost Amazon. I personally will be voting for moderate Nancy Floreen if she makes it on the ballot. |
| OP is confusing all of Montgomery County with Takoma Park. |
Please don't take her blinders off gurl is on a roll. |
Read the Atlantic magazine article link. The exact problem is the shift to expecting willy nilly entrance down to the complaints about AC and food. Relatives in other states who hate Trump are mostly unimpacted on a local tax level by illegal immigration. I read a thread on DCUM about the single mom with 2 kids and her taxes. A US citizen in her position deserves more than any illegal and that includes their kids. You think Mexico dosesn't get illegals staying from Central and South America? Think again. New president is working to throttle the pipeline. I'm more liberal than most but want our resources allocated to our own people. Ridiculous that my party cares more about illegals than AA's. |
| Are you okay with the government funding fake abortion clinics? |

| and not .0001% of her FICA or anyone's FICA should support immigrant elders subsidies. Time to evoke means test. |
All of this, but particularly the part where the moderate wing of the party can't figure out how to run fewer than 5 candidates in the race. But putting Raskin on the list is a little off-base because he IS representing his constituents. |
Except most of MoCo is run by people from Takoma Park. |
Rally more people without cheating. It's that simple. |
Are you sure you're not talking about George Levanthal |
I knew what OP meant.. people like the ones in Takoma Park. I kinda agree.

I live in a Maryland Trump precinct (and every precinct that touches my precinct was also a Trump precinct according to that NYT map).
The only place I ever see MAGA hats are at Union Station on tourists. It’s weird as hell that someone who claims they’re not very fixated on politics, like OP, is extremely fixated on *campaign* hats from a 2 year old election. My Trump supporting neighbors left campaign propaganda in 2016 where it belongs. |
I’m sorry, but why do you have to wait? Aren’t you afraid your children will be indoctrinated in the liberal agenda in Montgomery County schools? Surely if it were that important you could move now!
