Why so many people hate New England Patriots?

Anonymous
From someone who doesn't watch football: the view that I see is it's all about Brady. The popular player who is a celebrity player, has a good looking model wife and flaunts all of it. Even when the new team just won, it's all about how sad Brady is. How upsetting. How the team lost, will he retire... What about the new team that just won?

The Eagles were classic underdogs from a loserish city. The Patriots are the Dark Side. Not rocket science, you idiot.

The Eagles are not a “new team.”

Because they have become the Yankees of Football.

Well, you made a bad choice. It was an exciting game with a terrific outcome!

I’m of the opinion that if they do cheat (and I don’t know enough or care enough to nail that one down), it’s no more or less than any other team in the NFL cheats. I find that to be a kind of lame-sounding complaint. They’re just better than everyone else.

Wow, this didn't age well.

Except that the Yankees built their empire with money. The Patriots built it on a sixth-round draft pick and a glum, sleeveless hoodie wearing coach.

Add to your list: no sportsmanship from Brady or Belechik. He wouldn't even shake Foles's hand last night and then in his presser said "they had one good play" - guess he didn't watch the game I watched?!?

No, I am questioning why so many people hate the Patriots. It is obvious from news and even radio talk shows. My example was just of a person with a serious illness finally discharged from a hospital and her text is "hope the Patriots lose tomorrow." Bit odd, no?

From a Broncos, Colts, Jets, Bills, Dolphins or Steelers fan, no.

This is me. Jets fans have ample reason to hate Belichick. And Brady should send Mo Lewis a Christmas card every year - he'd never have gotten to play had it not been for Mo.

Except that there was never any speck of proof that they did. Goodell was the accuser and the judge. He found zero evidence but handed down a punishment. When Brady appealed an actual judge slammed Goodell and the NFL for their process and underlined the total lack of evidence. He overturned the suspension. Goodell appealed and the higher court decided that Goodell can punish anyone he wants, with or without evidence. In sum, if you believe Brady deflated footballs you are choosing to believe a story with no credible evidence. By the way, the football in question was thrown by Brady for an interception so nothing was gained by the alleged deflating.

OK, Pats defender, why did the Pats fire the two staff members implicated in the deflation? If they didn't do anything wrong, there's be no reason for that, right? Or are you saying that the Patriots fired to low-paid staffers hoping that sop would get Brady off the hook?

Meh. For the 25 years I've been here, it's been in reaction to the sheerness number of New England fans around here. After the Red Sox won the Worls series, new England fans of both sports became more insufferable.

Suck it Pats!!

The Patriots suspended them after being told to do so by the NFL and then reinstated them once official permission was granted by the NFL.
The NFL granted permission, which why would they do that if they REALLY believed they had deflated footballs. There'd be no reason for that, right?

Any more questions.?

The Eagles aren't new and Philly is one of the biggest sports fan cities in the country.

Hahaha no. Unless by “biggest” you mean “worst.”

I thought this summed up the sadness of this Super Bowl nicely:
