+1. And not matter what people think , you don't get to be worth almost a half a billion $$$ being stupid or trashy. if you hate her, that's cool, but to say the other stuff just makes you look dumb and stupid. |
I'm the person that you quoted. That's cool, most of the people I'm around could care less about her too. But nobody can deny her relevance and the mark she has made on the world. |
It's an age thing. |
| I think its generational, my nieces in their 20s revere her, and I don't see the big deal either. |
Don't even try to get it. Save your brain while you have it. |
I dont know. I have teens and I am ok with most of the performers they like-I don't like them but I can tolerate them. Her I cannot stand. She is repulsive to me. |
Maybe you are racist? Who are the other performers your teens like that you are not repulsed by?? |
Repulsive is a strong word, now this I'm curious about. |
I'm not the Beyonce generation (she means much more to the 20 somethings in my office, I'm 40) but what on earth with the stupid or trashy remarks? She's clearly not stupid--- she is a masterful songwriter and I consider people like her a poet of modern times. And trashy? She grew up with money, she waited until she was married to have children, and I can't think of a time that she's done really anything that would set off the morality radar? |
I don't know about her intelligence (at minimum she is smart enough to have smart people around her) but I don't get the trashy comment either. She's been with the same guy for years, no sex tapes or vagina shots when that was a thing, no rumors of drug habits or neglecting her child. To my knowledge doesn't start twitter beefs or engage in outlandish behavior. You don't hear of her being nasty to fans. She seems to dress pretty conservatively when not performing. What is so trashy about her? |
+1 I'm pretty surprised to hear someone thinks of her as trashy/slutty. She seems quite the opposite. |
+1. That poster may not like her, but to call her trashy and slutty is totally wrong. |
I think that person would likely call any woman who performs in a leotard outside the context of a ballet to be "trashy." |
| I'm 46 and the only thing I think about Beyonce is...why cant that woman wear pants!!!! |
So, it's human nature for a person to want to know more about something you like (or love). You love a certain musician, for example, so you listen to more of their music. Maybe even wiki them to learn where they grew up, where they studied music, what awards they earned, etc....that spirals into following them on social media and tabloids. The musician plays (no pun intended) into their fan base - that's where the money is - mostly through social media with pictures of themselves, maybe outrageous attire,...you get the picture. But seriously, OP, you don't understand the phenomenom of celebrities? Do you live under a rock? It's nothing new. More ubiquitous with the all the social media out there. Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presely, and the Beatles would've done the same thing if Twitter, FB, the tabloids, and E! were around back then. |
