Help me understand Beyonce

Anonymous
I keep seeing articles on Yahoo about her. Granted, I don't listen to her kind of music, but I don't understand why her having children is news - or why the media has all sorts of cutesy names for her. Do people actually refer to her as Queen Bey and such?

Maybe it's celebrity in general I don't understand, I don't know. Help me get it.

If you don't get it, I can't help you.

I think it is celebrity in general that you do not understand.

People idolize celebrities. They want to know everything about them so they can feel close to them. They might be lacking something in their own lives and that fills a void. Queen Bey=Queen Bee. Get it? I'd never even heard that nickname before, but it seems pretty obvious.

I understand how they came up with the name, but I don't understand why.

Are you familiar with celebrities acquiring or desiring nicknames to enhance their personal brand? Do you understand personal branding and fan service?

Because she IS the Queen. Nobody does it better. I'm not a huge fan, but she is a great entertainer. I went to the Mrs. Carter concert--took my DD and I can't lie. It.Was.Phenomenal. She and her team knows how to put on a show. She has a real artistic vision and he fans completely buy into it.

Honestly, no. I don't watch much TV or movies, and when I do, I don't know who the actors are. On the rate occasion I do know who they are, I won't seek out something else just becuase they're in it.

How old are you?

I'm 34 and a lot of her songs have been in the background of my whole life. In high school it was songs from Destiny's Child, in college it was Crazy in Love everywhere, and most recently the Lemonade stuff and Formation.

Are you familiar with the popularity of Michael Jackson, Elvis, Beatles, Rolling Stones, etc? It's the same concept. Their fans idolize them.

Held by multitudes. For better or worse, she is considered a cultural icon and supreme entertainer by the public and most critics alike. I'm in the better camp myself. It is what it is. Maybe she's not completely there yet but she is on the way to becoming the most famous celebrity a la Michael Jackson, Elvis, Pele, Princess Di or Muhammed Ali in their times.

If you are a Yahoo reader I'm surprised you don't understand this concept. They have lots of celebrity news.

I wish female performers would get out of the habit of wearing leotards. This is one of the many reasons I like Adele. She's clearly dressed up for a special occasion (performing), but not showing off her body.
