Healthy foods that suck

I hate beets unless they are really fresh. Most beet salads are disgusting.
Also hate faux meats and tofu.
My #1 on the gross list is KOMBUCHA.

I do love kale though so maybe something is wrong with me...is it just raw kale that everyone hates? What about sautéed with garlic?

The WF galic kale in the salad bar is good but i need a bag to take home that lasts for 2 weeks. The giant brand family size bag is only $3.50 and it lasts 2.5 weeks and i eat a large bowl nearly everyday. The baby kale from nature's promise is good for just 2 servings. I always thought the crunchier kale was healthier anyway.

Someone please tell me it's not healthier so I can go back to eating white pasta, white rice and white bread instead of the whole wheat and brown versions.

Some whole-wheat brands add a ton of sugar to make it moderately palatable. Compare the ingredient list and actual sugar content - not just overall carbs - to a good-quality white bread and you might be surprised.

It's like bran muffins. For years they were marketed as the "healthy" muffin. Turns out they usually have far more sugar than a normal blueberry muffin. When I make whole-grain bread at home, I usually add honey or maple syrup, while my white bread just has flour/salt/yeast/water and sometimes a bit of dairy.

The extra fiber is good, yes, but there are tradeoffs.

Things I hate: kombucha, coconut water, fish, kale outside of very specific contexts, sweet potatoes outside very specific contexts, turkey

Things I love: yogurt, tofu, quinoa

Swedish hard bread. It is like eating a cardboard box.

Ditto on those Ak Mak crackers.
Also, cauliflower rice and riced broccoli. And cauliflower crust pizza. And spinach in your smoothies -- tastes like licking rusty auto parts.

I am so happy to see all the kale hate... I choked it down for a while and then realized I didn't have to live this way.

Can't deal with kombucha either. I like it in theory but cannot actually consume it.

I don't have a problem with kale but I HATE beets. Tastes like dirt. I could go eat a handful of dirt from my garden for free instead. Blech.

I think avocados have more potassium

I hate smoothies with protein powder. They all taste like chalk.

I used to think I hated kale until I starting eating kale salads from sweetgreen. It's all about the dressing and small pieces... which I now assume they must massage.

Kiwi has lots of potassium too.

Kombucha is vile. The bottle always bubbles over like its possessed every time it's opened.

Brown rice, quinoa. So nasty!

Make sure 100% of stems are removed, then massage the kale with olive oil and salt. Squeeze it like play dough for a couple minutes, then try it. You'll feel less like a cow working its cud this way...

Hmmm? Massage the kale? Are you on the wrong thread? This sounds all too wrong and funny at the same time!
