+1. And yogurt. Also quinoa. |
seriously, why just why? life is too short for fake bacon. to add to the list.. plain Greek yogurt. I choke it down but don't love it. I need to add honey to make it palatable. |
| I love healthy foods. You just have to know how to prepare them. Kale needs to be massaged with a bit of salt and olive oil. (Olive oil will not make you fat.) Brussels sprouts need to be roasted. Okra too. |
| Thanks to this thread, the kale I eat regularly tasted more chewy to me today. |
I have never massaged my kale with olive oil, never heard of doing that until this thread. Interesting. But I did want to point out that olive oil does have a fair amount of calories in it and if you overuse it you will absolutely be getting excess calories in your diet. |
| ^a cup of uncooked raw kale has about 33 calories. A tablespoon of olive oil has over 100 calories. So watch the olive oil! |

Sardines.
The only good thing about sardines is the can. I get so much joy leaving an empty can in the common lunch area when no one is around, and listening to my colleagues complain about the smell. Sweet justice. |
| Kale-tough little pieces of green leather. Yuck! |
LOL!!!!!!!!!! I always make cat noises when my husband eats sardines.

I think the chobani greek yogurt is way too tart. Try the giant non fat plain greek it's much better, only I'm always thirsty afterwards. I think most everyone needs to add fruit to their yogurt. |
|
You know what makes plain Greek yogurt heavenly? Add non-alcohol based vanilla extract and a bit of whatever sweetener you like. Make sure the vanilla is alcohol free or you'll get a funky off-flavor.
And kale massagers, nothing takes away the aftertaste of kale. It's the aftertaste that creeps up on you. |
Vegan cheese is disgusting. Why even bother?? |
Plain whole milk yogurt, whether Greek-but-made-in-America or thin-from-your-country like you are accustomed to, has sugar in it, no matter where it is produced. That's because milk has sugar in it. A cup of plain whole cow's milk (3.25% fat) has 12.3 grams of sugar. Not added sugar, milk sugar. All milk has sugar in it. A cup of human breast milk has 17 grams of sugar. Plain Greek or regular yogurt does not have the same amount of sugar as Yoplait whips; I think you must have misread the labels. According to the nutritional labels: a 4 oz. container of Yoplait Greek 100 Whips, Blueberry flavor, has 12 grams of sugar, 9 grams of protein, and 0 grams of fat. There is added sugar in this yogurt. an 8 oz serving--so twice as much--of Plain Fage Nonfat Greek yogurt has 9 grams of sugar, 23 grams of protein, and 0 grams of fat. There is no added sugar, this is all milk sugar. And if you prefer "thinner" yogurt, an 8 oz serving (again, twice as much as in a Whips container) of Dannon plain nonfat yogurt has 15 grams of sugar, 10 grams of protein, and 0 grams of fat. Again, no added sugar. |
| Coconut water. Taste like dirty socks |
So eat a potato. They have more potassium. |
