I'm skeptical that anyone with a number in the 70s (or 60s) or above will get a spot. Thoughts?

I wouldn't hold my breath. Since they don't participate in My School DC the list doesn't get "cleaned" of students that prefer another school more and get matched there. It is hard to say how far they will go in their list, and the historical data isn't available like it is for MSDC schools.

i think 60s and 70s sounds right. The list can move fast if they hit a run of kids who decline or have left town. It's very hard to say, though.

+1. All you can do is wait though.

Or declin or transfer because they realize the school's admin has really bungled this latest criminal and PR issue

I don't know of a single person leaving or transferring.

I do know that the consensus at lamb is that most of the people posting hateful things about the school don't actually send children there.

Putting aside current controversy, there are always at least a small handful of families who play the lottery for a Deal feeder or decide that dual language is not right for their kiddo for some reason.

Whether they leave at PK4 or a bit later is the question. LAMB has never had 100% retention from PK4 through 5th.

But this scandal broke after the MSDC timeline, so if they are less than K and/or their IB is a non-starter, families who want to move may be screwed

Good points, but some do lottery to cover their bases or a youger sibling lotteries as a safety option. The younger sib could then pull in the older if they match somewhere.

No. Manolo was arrested on Feb 24. Lottery deadline was March 2.

Right, but the scandal didn't really get legs until after the lottery deadline.

We didn't about the 2015 offense until the week of the "town meeting" which was the week of March 7. That's what sent me over the edge and feels like the administration has some liability.

Does anyone know if #1 starts with kids accepted or with the #1 spot on the wait list?

Anonymous wrote:I'm a current LAMB parent, and I wouldn't let the situation keep you from accepting a spot at LAMB. Similar situations have occurred at Beauvoir, GDS, Sidwell, Oyster, etc. LAMB is a fantastic school where one bad apple did a very bad thing. If anything, the situation makes me questions the MPD's investigative skills. However, I'm even willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. The problem with these predators is that they're very sneaky. Also, LAMB is doing a total review of its policies due to this incident. I'm sure that by next school year it will be one of the safest schools (just like flying on an airline after one of its planes crashed).

My sincerest sympathy for the nightmare you are probably experiencing as a parent. My concerns with the organizational skills and communication from the admin team at LAMB pre-dated the incident.
A train wreck analogy would have been more appropriate. The predator situation is being handled very poorly and parents' morale is very poor as a result. The plea deal the accused will likely receive (that's being orchestrated by his high power attorney as we speak) has furthered our distress. The school has been slow to respond, dishonest (they lied about a prior investigation) and sadly the robust open communication necessary to move things forward is happening on DCUM- not on the parent list-serve or at the school. Because many parents are considering pulling their kids out, you'll find many people cheerleading the school so that more people enroll. There's lots of the "admin. is fixing policies, etc... to make the school safe". If this is happening you won't hear about that at the school. There have been "workshops" set up, which I will not attend based upon the draconian process of the trainwreck town hall. So, if you consider enrolling you child (and I know many won't be deterred due to lack of choice in the city) do so with eyes wide open and readiness to go to bat for your child.

I feel like this is a troll post written by someone trying to take LAMB down. I'm a parent there and nothing you've written seems right to me. The school was slow to get a crisis management team and response in place but now they are much more communicative and pro-active. Morale is what you would expect after this kind of situation. The school was not dishonest, their lawyer lied, NOT anyone from the school administration. The school is sending out a lot of communication, as much as they can at this point. I know of some people considering pulling out but definitely not many. LAMB remains the only Montessori bilingual school in the city, one of the few in the country, with some of the best test scores of ALL of the charters, a nearly 15 year history, and an involved and outspoken parent community. Getting into LAMB is still "winning the lottery." Or go ahead, send your kids to Garrison and Powell and Marie Reed....

If I recall correctly, last year, the list is total lottery pull (excluding siblings), so if there are four pk4 slots, they went to numbers 1-4 on that list.
