How do they determine what kids go to Walter Reed? How are those spots filled?

my assumption would be that they ask current families first (which to my knowledge hasn't been done yet) and then go in order from there.

I have a feeling that's part of the delay from the draw to the calls. Having the WR campus is new so more shuffling has to happen.

My guess: they are have to figure out the families that got siblings in, assign them to a campus that keeps the families together if at all possible, then determine who will be assigned to the new campus and also sort the new families.

In past years they assign new families to a campus - but will switch if the family requests and they can accommodate it.

'tis true. I emailed bc we were 31 and they said the first 27 will be offered seats...so technically, I am 4th on their waitlist.

They just move at their own rhythm and in their own way. The work / tasks always get done but it's a place that handles face to face, in person interaction better than electronic communication. In general they are amazing with the kids, and care a lot less about keeping the parents informed.

Re Walter Reed - they aren't moving everything there. For the next few years they will operate in 3 different buildings (Walter Reed, Missouri Avenue and Perry Street).

I believe that Pk3-K will only be at Missouri Ave and Perry Street. You can find out for sure online -- look on the DCPCSB website for their enrollment ceiling increase request. It's spelled out there

Another parent here, this description of communication is all exactly right. And correct there won't be any PK3 at WR. I have heard different things about elementary remaining at MO campus, rather than all just moving to WR and I am not sure if that has been decided yet.

LAMB admissions, you're killing me! We're one of the lucky 27 and have been patiently waiting for a call or email confirming our enrollment location. Hoping today will be the day!

Ha! We are too (number under 15), and I called earlier this afternoon (before reading this forum) and they told me the same thing that someone posted earlier - that they won't be contacting accepted families until April 7. We're dying to know which campus we're going to get, and want to know when we can tour the school since we haven't done that yet, but I guess we just have to wait another week!

Same here (we're one of the lucky 27). I called yesterday and the person I spoke to said that an email was going to be sent soon. When I asked about an enrollment deadline she said we would have one week to decide whether to accept our spot. If we're not getting a call until this Friday, that's quite a time crunch. We have yet to see any of the campuses (bc we figured it was totally unrealistic that we'd ever get in), and given that we'll be out of town a couple days next week, that doesn't leave a lot of time to make an informed decision. Does anyone know if that one week deadline is a real thing or if there's some actual enrollment deadline I haven't heard about? How has it worked in past years?

It seems like we need more than a week to decide, notably since we haven't even heard about location and also never got to see the classrooms. I went to an Open House, but we were told we could only see the classrooms once we were accepted. Hoping to hear soon.

I just got an email saying we need to tell them whether we accept the slot by this Friday at 5 PM. They do not say which campus we've been accepted to. I am really interested in the school but I have to say I'm pretty put off by how little they seem to care about welcoming new families. I guess when you have 650 people on your waitlist you don't really have to lift a finger, but come on.

The email I got had the campus in the subject line. Yours didn't?

Say yes. You can always change your mind in a few weeks.

I have a good but not great PK4 number (good enough to have gotten us in last year) and fantasize about them adding seats when they move elementary to Walter Reed. Can a common lottery loser dream?

No. Don't do that to yourself. Their papers filed with the charter board made clear that they won't be adding seats with the WR building. That just allows them to room to keep the students they've already admitted all the way through to 5th. The primary expansion you are hoping for already happened.

No, it did not. I am top 5 on the list and the email just says I have a slot at either campus. PP are you pk3?
