I remember going to Bergner's with my grandmother and she would buy me candy buttons. So good. But the real old people candy were the Nips and butterscotch she kept in her purse.

I just want to know who their strawberry candy dealer is. I bought some at Wegmans thinking it was the same ones that my grandmother used to have (she's now deceased so I can't ask her) but they are a disgusting alternative version. If anyone has the scoop on where I can get the real deal please let me know!

Are Brachs the same as the strawberry hard candies with gooey filling? My grandma always had those.

Omg I was just coming here to type this - literally exactly what you wrote. Spooky!

I love these, by the way.

They're called Canada Mints.

Both Food Lion and Kmart sell them! Kmart has them in a bag by the registers and they have other hard candies mixed in with the strawberry. Food Lion will have them on an end cap near the frozen food section for some odd reason.

I used to live in Baltimore and they had candy stores called Wokenfuss that also sold them.

Happy eating!

When I was young, we used to enjoy atomic fireballs, the necklace candy (I would never eat that today), sweetarts, hot tamales, and, not really candy - but the liquid things that came in wax “pop” bottles. We also liked MaryJanes, candy cigars and cigarettes, My favorite candy bar was Baby Ruth.

I used to love getting those candy necklaces from the ice cream man when he came around!

My grandma always had those smooth round white peppermints in her bag. She would give them to me during church.
