technically speaking, I believe Octomom actually had them implant a high number of embryos. With Kate, she was going IUI -- her ovaries were over stimulated when she was injected with sperm leading to the multiple births. Again - doctor intervention here might have lead to them taking a break for a round, using less drugs so that the ovaries wouldn't produce quite so many follicles the next time.... |
Particularly since they already had two children. You can't really blame the hearbreak of infertility with a woman who has already been blessed with twins and is merely expanding-- as opposed to starting-- her family. People need to get a grip. |
100% agreed. And I also agree that we created them - jon and kate were only successful because we are such a voyeuristic society that loves a freak story. And again, they really should have thought about the consequences of popping out 8 kids BEFORE having them. A human body is NOT meant to carry that many children, and it is a miracle these children seem to have all come out OK (without health issues, at least). Sadly, I don't think this fiasco is going to teach us our lesson - we'll continue to glamorize these super-sized families and create more psychos like OctoMom. I really am starting to believe these reality shows are a sign of the apocalypse... |
| Maybe they can't get out of the show - we don't know what their contract is like, what TLC is saying (or threatening), what their legal options are. |
|
I seriously doubt TLC would risk the bad press of holding them to their contract if they really wanted to get out.
I can't believe that they televised themselves talking about the divorce like that - those poor kids are never going to be able to get over it. Some of the things Jon was saying were truly horrible if you look at them in the context that the children will someday see them. He lamented that he is 32 with 8 kids and said that he was really excited for this next phase in life. Can you imagine watching that as a teenager and hearing your father say that?? He is really going to regret those words. Kate is totally going for the martyr role here - i.e., the whole thing is Jon's idea and there's nothing she can do about it. It didn't seem like she put up much of a fight. Did they even seek counseling? If this is the norm of how/why people get divorced - and I truly hope it is not - then it's easy to see why we have such a high divorce rate. |
| Anyone remember when TLC actually had interesting documentaries? Now they have the Jon and Kate drama thing going and a show called toddlers and tiaras. They need to change the name of the channel. |
I vote for The Losers Channel. |

TLC has announced that production has been halted on Jon and Kate until August. It is not looking likely they will finish the full 40 episode season.
Hope Kate has invested that $$$ wisely. |
| Kate is addicted to stardum! And the $$$. She's only concerned about the show. |
|
they're only there because WE are watching and talking about it.
I agree with the PP... "it's OUR fault." |
I'm sure kate is just rethinking and restragegizing their angle on this. I bet she will resume as the single mom martyr. |
| so I don't watch the show but am interested - DO you think they've invested the money/socked it away? people say so much of their stuff is paid for...what does everyone think? |
| I think they'll struggle especially with splitting incomes. The husband is a bum and his excitement at starting a new chapter where he can live in Trump Tower and go snowboarding in Vail on the money made from the kid's show is just disgusting. |
Apparently they are currently worth $10 million. |
