Anonymous

Many people are mandated reporters of child abuse. Slingin weed? No such thing.

You'll go to the cops and say "my kid bought pot from this other kid and she says that he still does it" and what do you think they'll do? Have detectives watch him?!?

Telling pool management might yield something, but again, there's proof that he's high at work?

You pearl clutchers are hilarious.

Yeah - what could go wrong?

Horrible story but thanks for sharing.

I know this may be a stretch but if you know someone in law enforcement, you should consult them first. They may be able to look into it before or instead of you going public or informing pool officials. If the lifeguard is still dealing and the police are tipped about it, they may put him under surveillance and set up a buy to arrest him, which may solve the issue. No swim club will employ someone arrested or charged with selling drugs.

Not a kid selling to his friends. Give me a break.

Why? I'd report it, OP. If not your kid, he's probably selling it to someone else's.

Yes, report it.
There are a lot of teens working with this person and that is not a safe environment for anyone.
Especially getting off at the end of the night and walking home?
It's one thing to smoke some pot sometimes but dealing?! Gee - I wonder what happens if said dealer owes someone money or someone feels like dealer/lifeguard stiffed them?

Haha. In Bethesda? Gunfights over dimebags?!?

Equating smoking pot with child abuse is beyond fucking asinine.

There are undercover officer's who look and sound youthful, like a kid. Duh...

As a former lifeguard, I expect the pool manager and/or head lifeguard would be all over any lifeguard who appeared to be impaired while on the clock and it would be grounds for immediate termination. There's absolutely no way this would escape their attention. If by some chance it did and you have reason to suspect the lifeguard is high while he's working, go to the head guard or pool manager and voice your concern, but you'd better be specific.

If it has nothing to do with his job performance, MYOB. You have no way of knowing whether or not the kid is still using/ selling.

And if you drug test one kid based only on circumstantial evidence then you need to test them all. And you may end up with no lifeguards if you fire every one who tests positive for weed.

OP here. I said rehab but really it was psychiatric care and ended up with a ADHD diagnosis. On meds now and doing well. Thanks for your response.

Np. But you did sort of make it sound like you sent your daughter to this "long and difficult rehab" because of the pot that this kid allegedly sold to her. That didn't sound right - at all. And as it turns out, there was a lot more to that situation.

In answer to your question...I wouldn't mention this pot selling business unless I had good reason to believe that this kid was STILL selling pot. Just as your own daughter has moved on from her involvement with drugs it is possible that this kid has also moved away from pot.

But obviously if this kid is selling pot to the kids at the pool that is very bad and can not be tolerated.

I'd report it. Chances are he is coming to work impaired (and if you're going to tell me he's probably not coming to work high then YOU are high...) and heaven forbid something happen to a child while he's on duty... All of you "it's just pot" people would be singing a much different tune if something happened to your child while at that pool. I don't care what the kid does in his off time, he can get as high as he wants, but when you have a job as a lifeguard that is inexcusable.

OP, watch the Amazon original series Red Oaks. The valet parker at the country club (Red Oaks) sells pot. Problems ensure but pretty much just for him.

There are moco cops posing as teens all over Bethesda so I somehow doubt this story.
Though more at the public schools not sure about anywhere else.

Smoking every so often is one thing. Dealing drugs is a totally different thing - he had no business being around large groups of kids and he sure shouldn't be a life guard.

You clearly didn't read the gazette story linked above. Happened on my block and saw the blood on our sidewalk at the bus stop.

They're not doing to devote police resources to this. Duh

Why assume he's high at work?
