Does it matter if the pool lifeguard sells pot?

All of you "it's just pot" people would be singing a much different tune if something happened to your child while at that pool. I don't care what the kid does in his off time, he can get as high as he wants, but when you have a job as a lifeguard that is inexcusable.

Why assume he's high at work?

Did you smoke weed as a teen? Can you honestly tell me you never showed up to your high school job high? Give me a break...

Yeah, working at a grocery store maybe - might be funny as you get fired. Sure.

Lifeguard? No.

I've smoked so much weed in my life and I was a lifeguard and a rock climbing instructor.

I was never high at these jobs.

OP here's some contact info for one company that runs some pools in Bethesda.
If the company doesn't respond I'd send a note to the swimming pool board.

No - just no.

And I'll bet you weren't a serious dealer either.

We have one lifeguard at our pool that is a raging jerk, screaming at everyone constantly. I really wish someone would give her a pot brownie so she could mellow the hell out.

At times I sold 1/8s to my friends.

I don't call that being a "serious dealer".

Let it go - the boy might have cleaned up his act too. Is this by chance Potomac Swim and Tennis Club?

I would report him. If it wasn't a lifeguard job (like he worked in the snack bar), not such a big deal.

I think it's terrible to spread rumors about this kid unless you know for a fact (or are pretty darned certain) that he is still getting high and selling drugs.

Being toasted at the snack shack is pretty common.

It isn't normal or acceptable for lifeguards to be under the influence. It just isn't.

If there is a kid (or adult) doing that, that is screwed up and should be reported.

BUT - If you are simply passing on second hand gossip...maybe you should rethink your motives.

Oh my god. I haven't read all these replies but wanted to post before you did something. DO NOT report him. This kid needs this job more than anything right now. Lots of teens do drugs. Some even sell. And about 0.000001% of them will become career drug thugs. This kid needs this real job with real responsibilities (which are not effected by selling dope, and debatably effected by using, unless he truly has a drug problem, which would be more than apparent to his manager). He needs this job. Trust me.

You should be watching your kids like a hawk at the pool regardless of the presence of a lifeguard. I was a lifeguard and, believe me, I knew some stone cold sober morons sitting in that chair. Don't fuck up this kids life that is already teetering. Don't be the one to tip the scale for him into "bad kid".

IF the guy is stoned in the chair or selling pot (or whatever) to the kids at the pool - absolutely report him. Otherwise mind your own beeswax.

Yes. Because this kid is not responsible for his own choices. He lives in one of the richest areas in the country, but is forced to sell drugs to keep a roof over his head. Poor wittle baby.
