Does it matter if the pool lifeguard sells pot?

Anonymous
We just moved to a Bethesda neighborhood that has a swim and tennis club for residents. I recognized the 17 year old lifeguard as a boy my DD used to buy pot off of and he was a regular user. My DD went through a very long and difficult rehab but I believe she is clean. She admitted based on her texts with others that he is still dealing and using. Do I mention this to the Association or just let it go? Not trying to cause trouble.

Let it go.

Why? I'd report it, OP. If not your kid, he's probably selling it to someone else's.

What? Ignore the PP! As a parent of young kids who belong to a swim & tennis club like you describe, that's appealling !! Lifeguard / Dealer - wtf? SAY SOMETHING ...

Hell no don't "let go". Think of your daughter first. She had a difficult recovery and her dealer is right by her? Put temptation out of temptation's way. A drug dealing life guard?! Is he high when he's on duty? Yup. Too much is stake here. Please please please tell the association.

I would be concerned too if he is coming to work high. The manager may have noticed something, but not able to put his/her finger on it. This is safety issue. Please say something so they can monitor this young person.

Yes.

No one wants a high lifeguard or swim teacher.

Yes, this or the risk is he is high while lifeguarding!

Is this in Edgemoor?

OMG- please say what pool! At the very least, in case he claims he's "clean"' now, other DCUM&dads can be on the look out. The more people are aware of a possible issue, the more vigilant we can all be - plus more evidence if needed. It takes a village. A lifeguard is such a trusted position

Georgetown Aquatics lifeguard?

I think it's unfair to accuse him of using to his employer. Because if it's not true and he's clean, he still may get fired and we as a society want people to be working productive jobs. Not dealing.

But I would discuss it with the association stating there is a lifeguard who was a known dealer/user and while you do t have evidence that he's usI got now, you'd like to get information on their hiring practices. That should put them on alert about it.

I hope you did not send your kid to rehab for pot. If so, that will be the worst decision of your life. My parents did it. Turned a normal kid into a hardcore dig addict as he got to know many there.

23:56 here: to address the actual question, if you have any thoughts that he is actually high while lifeguarding, then absolutely tell someone immediately. But if not, chill out.
