Does it matter if the pool lifeguard sells pot?

1. Unless you have evidence ( not just your daughter's texts) he's still dealing and using or high on the job I'd let it go. Seems like maybe he's trying to do something positive with his life. I mean your daughter supposedly turned things around why can't he.
Which brings me to

2. I'd strongly reconsider your position that your daughter is clean your admitted texts suggests otherwise to me.

I recognized the 17 year old lifeguard as a boy my DD used to buy pot off of and he was a regular user. My DD went through a very long and difficult rehab but I believe she is clean. She admitted based on her texts with others that he is still dealing and using. Do I mention this to the Association or just let it go? Not trying to cause trouble.

OMG. Get him out of there. Of course - go directly to the Board president. Do you want him to entice your DD? Do you want to facilitate other kids being drawn into pot?

Oh please. OP has no proof. She is facilitating nothing.

Report to pool manager.
This is a safety issue.

Yes! Do it! Don't you get everything you demand?

Depends on what it is and how you do it.
This is a no-brainer. Agree with all the "this is a safety issue" posters.

Yes. It's just pot. It's everywhere.

I cannot believe the attitudes here. I live in Bethesda too and this is so clear. Tell the Board President. Don't gossip about it. Our Board acts very quickly. FWIW, we had a lifeguard too who WAS Previously a user, but went to rehab and got cleaned up. I had no issues with him life guarding, but maybe because I knew the story and spoke to him regularly and knew the pool knew as well. You can easily monitor this with drug tests. And for those who say NBD, do note that pot and alcohol at this age is much more likely to lead to addiction, brain chemistry changes, etc. And you don't just start with Molly or PCP or heroin - you start with pot and alcohol. Our middle school has an excellent outside speaker come in to do a week long course on drugs for 7th & 8th graders - parents meet with the instructor once at the end. He always says MOST kids do NOT drink or do drugs - you need to remember to tell your kids they are in the majority. Sorry to go off track a bit but this enabling attitude of some Bethesda neighbors is troubling.

So if there was no pot people wouldn't do mdma?

Yeah, right.

It is an illegal activity and you have to report it, same if you would report drunk driving or child abuse. You are not in the court, you don't need to have any evidence, this will be up to police to gather the evidence. Based on your report, pool management can submit him to urine test and Vick his little butt out of there if he tested positive.

I had a parent approach me at our pool when I was on the board with reports that a couple of the guards were heavy drinkers (sneak vodka in your water bottle at your sporting event kind of guys). I told the manager sort of as "I've heard xx, don't know if it's true, but you may just want to keep your eyes peeled for any indication that guards are drinking on the job." She assured me she would, that would be a "fireable offense" and they turned out to be good employees. I don't think I even named which guards people had raised concerns about.

That might be one approach. You could tell the pool board what you know (my DD bought pot from this kid two years ago) and let them decide how to handle it.

Many people are mandated reporters of child abuse. Slingin weed? No such thing.

You'll go to the cops and say "my kid bought pot from this other kid and she says that he still does it" and what do you think they'll do? Have detectives watch him?!?

Telling pool management might yield something, but again, there's proof that he's high at work?

You pearl clutchers are hilarious.

Rehab for pot? No....

OP, I would not go to the board president without proof because you would be exposing yourself and your daughter. I know this may be a stretch but if you know someone in law enforcement, you should consult them first. They may be able to look into it before or instead of you going public or informing pool officials. If the lifeguard is still dealing and the police are tipped about it, they may put him under surveillance and set up a buy to arrest him, which may solve the issue. No swim club will employ someone arrested or charged with selling drugs.

NP. As a former lifeguard, I expect the pool manager and/or head lifeguard would be all over any lifeguard who appeared to be impaired while on the clock and it would be grounds for immediate termination. There's absolutely no way this would escape their attention. If by some chance it did and you have reason to suspect the lifeguard is high while he's working, go to the head guard or pool manager and voice your concern, but you'd better be specific.

If it has nothing to do with his job performance, MYOB. You have no way of knowing whether or not the kid is still using/ selling.

Why? I'd report it, OP. If not your kid, he's probably selling it to someone else's.

Yes, report it.
There are a lot of teens working with this person and that is not a safe environment for anyone.
Especially getting off at the end of the night and walking home?
It's one thing to smoke some pot sometimes but dealing?! Gee - I wonder what happens if said dealer owes someone money or someone feels like dealer/lifeguard stiffed them?
