Why are American blacks always having issues with the Police?

True. It's not "okay", but cops often face dangerous people and there is a thing called self defense. Of course it is never ever okay to shoot when no clear and immediate threat is posed. This is why we need unbiased investigation. It is good that the feds are taking over the investigation in Baton Rouge.

There is video today showing the cops pulled the gun from his pocket after he was shot. Check out Buzzfeed.

Exactly

Could it possibly be because cops including black cops have been killed by said race more often and more often they see said race on their wanted list?

Don't provide facts to this group. It messes with their emotional flare-ups

Here are some facts for you, but don't let that get in the way of your reality.

http://www.newsweek.com/who-kills-police-officers-315701

True Fact: Over 10 years Blacks made up only 13 percent of the national population (and black males made up an even smaller percentage), but they committed 43 percent of the murders of police officers -- which is obviously a DISPROPORTIONATELY high percentage. Another sad fact (per MacRandall's post):
"79% of the suspects who fired on NYPD officers in 2012 were black; 5% were white.
http://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/downloads/pdf/analysi...
THAT is the REAL reason that police are wary of black males -- because too many black males commit too many violent crimes. CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR -- that is the real reason for "racial profiling" -- NOT "racism." Contrary to the MYTH that is being put out there, the police force is NOT full of bad human beings -- racism is NOT rampant in the police force. The police are getting thrown under the bus & unfairly painted as villains (to push an agenda, like "reparations"). Two wrongs don't make a right.

Statistics do not justify the last two killings. And I don't care to debate whether racism is rampant or not. The number of innocent black men who get shot and killed is far too high. They have not lost their human rights because of statistics.

Innocent is rarely true. It's high because there are more black males caught by cops of any race. Continue being blind to the root of the problem. It will get you no where and society no where when you don't pay attention to what is really wrong.

Sorry but that does nothing for the families who lost their husbands and fathers.

I have a high appreciation for how difficult and dangerous the job of law enforcement is. I also expect more from trained, professional police officers than I do from just random citizens. I expect them to know how to conduct a traffic stop without killing an unarmed person, or a legally licensed-to-carry person. No one in this country is forced to be a police officer. The danger is clear; officers are signing up for that. A citizen with a broken tail light is not signing up for a life-and-death encounter.

I understand that cops are only human, not perfect, and can make deadly mistakes. I would never want an officer condemned for just being mistaken. If he truly thought a guy was going for a gun, and reacted accordingly, for example. But too often we see officers (white, like me) going too far; not making a mistake, but anything from power-tripping to outright murder. Power Trip: Sandra Bland stop. Murder, Walter Scott shot in the back as he ran away.

How did the man in the first incident, who had a long rap sheet, have a legal handgun in his pocket?

Because traffic offenses don't stop you from owning a handgun but, Im all for making a law that does.

I'm not sure why everyone is jumping on the OP. It's a question many people are asking.

Maybe the solution is more blacks in the police force. Although in my city it seems there are many minorities and blacks in the force.

Probably bought from a gun show, in a private sale or from a straw purchaser, since no one is interested in passing legislation to require background checks for every gun purchase.

ok, sooooo, both guys were armed with guns.

ARMED. WITH. GUNS.

And after what happened in Dallas last night, I'd say the police are right to be afraid and jumpy.

The Post said he had a longer rap sheet than that: "sterling has a criminal record going back two decades, including charges of burglary, domestic abuse, possessing marijuana, property damage, carnal knowledge of an adolescent and illegally carrying a handgun..."

The theory is that people become racists when they become police officers, or only racists are recruited. It has nothing to do with black violence, and the higher percentage of blacks in jail reflects the prejudice of police being racists.

Fuck off. Also a minority and not black.

Wow, the STFU response, right off.

On the other hand, does this board really need a separate discussion on race? Especially on lead by two "I'm a non-black minority" types, who wear their genetic make-up like a lame and outdated post-modern badge of credibility on race issues in America?

??

Hello racist, yes YOU!
