No. In the U.S. special education students and English language students can stay in school until 22 (well more like 21 but to be technical we will say 22). And there are many many many EL students who are good students and hard workers trying to get a diploma when they got here at age 16/17 and began school late and need more time. They should not automatically be shuffled to “the alternative school.”

This is why the budget for FCPS keeps growing even with declining enrollment. 20% of FCPS students are EL learners. 1 in 5. And many can’t even read or write in their primary language. FCPS can’t even afford alternative schools. Meanwhile these kids are a drag on everyone else.

PP here and this is harmful thinking. My school is majority EL and no, they are not a drag. They are great kids who are incredibly motivated to learn but have a lot of obstacles. We need to not demonize EL students because of this kid.

At least one of the girls has retained counsel so it will be interesting to see if the school wants to settle with her.

FCPS will spend more on legal fees fighting the girls than they would spend by settling.

Settling what? FCPD responded to a call on March 5th, the alleged assailant was arrested on March 7th.

“In court records, the original offense dates are listed as Feb. 25, 2026, and Ortiz’s arrest date is listed as March 7, 2026.

More than two weeks after the incidents were reported, Fairfax High School Principal Georgina Aye sent an email to parents on March 12.”

If these dates are accurate, he assaulted 13 girls over two weeks. You honestly believe FCPS didn’t find out until 2 days before his arrest lol. The parents said they had been reporting this to the school all year.

Where do you see the parents saying this? I’ve seen it repeated here, but the parents who were interviewed about this terrible situation didn’t say it.
If this is typical of the normal course of action in a school, they worked with the students to investigate and they reported the guy as soon as they confirmed it was him. We have confirmation that the school administrators are the ones who identified the perp, right?
There have been a number of principals who lost their jobs or were charged for not reporting violence against sped students right away. They are now all very aware that you don’t play around with stuff like this. It just isn’t plausible that the school would know who was doing this without reporting it sooner. It is a better story for the news if they waited, but I’m not buying it.

Not if you’re an adult illegal alien “student” with a free rein to do as you please.

To me it is definitely a degree of sexual assault, but the Virginia Code definitions of sexual assault would come into play regarding what the police could charge. Sometimes something can be charged as a lessor crime because the evidence to convict is better and the more serious crime hard to prove. Sexual assault can be really tough because often times the victims can be reluctant to testify. I could see in a case like this the young women not wanting to testify because the defense attorney will likely make comments like revealing clothes or that she didn't immediately call out stop touching me or didn't immediately run to the office.

I hope we get a decent investigation and that the principal who otherwise appears to be a great principal isn't just made a scapegoat.

They are a drag and consume massive amounts of resources that could go to citizens and legal residents.

Goodbye illegals.

There's a very large overlap dummy.

The one who really needs to go is Descano--wanted the perp released on bail??? And the judge had to say no he won't?

And then FCPS would take him back?? This is surreal.

Yeah yeah yeah the multiple thousands of “illegal kids” taking up all the funding and attention are why your kids didn’t end up special enough to get into AAP and Ivy League schools I’m so sure.

That can be true, and at the same time it can be true that they are a drag on the children that are proficient in English.

On the other hand, if EL is a majority it can possibly be said that the English proficient are a drag on them.
