Dang you were onto something but had to go low like the PP with a couple snobby points. my kid did choose UVA over VT engineering and I find this obnoxious. Way to make us look even worse! |
There is a site where you can see stats by school. |
Those two stats were my daughter’s…in EA engineering. Huge public. Good luck to your kid! |
They didn't use legacy last year either. They never used DI. |
Eh - last year they still had the supplimental optional essay to share in under 100 words your connection to UVA. Could have been that you went to a sports camp there, toured there and had a special experience OR grew up going to games with your alumni parents. |
Yes, my DD got in ED last year with those stats as well as good EC's (and what I thought were great essays)....you are so lucky they took away the two supplemental essays!!! Those were so time consuming last year! |
My kid picked UVA for aerospace engineering over VT, Purdue and Ga Tech, which was a very good thing because she bailed after Calc3 and went into the humanities and is now in a T3 law school. 80% of students change their major at least once. |
Eh, but those are gone this year. |
Not necessarily. SCHEV reports that the entering class in September had a 4.5 at the 75th percentile, meaning 25 percent had higher. The states were 4.5 at the 75th percentile, 4.4 median and 4.2 for bottom 25th percentile. The ACTs were 35/33/32 and SATs 1520/1470 and 1410. |
You are confused. UVA did not sign the compact. It signed an agreement with DOJ that DOJ would temporarily stop its investigation into allged discrimination in hiring and in admissions while UVA sorted out its practices. You don't want UVA to continue to discriminate against JEws, Asian students and white students do you? Because that's what you are saying. |
+1 I’m a proud UVA parent and this is not a good look. I know numerous VT students and ALL are smart, driven and salt of the earth kids any parent would be proud of. However, I can see why parents get irritated when asked why their kids chose UVA’s engineering program over VT’s. Both programs are solid. |
Yes, but not by major within the same school, right? |
| Curious - does no one submit ACT scores? We are OOS and ACT score is in the 50% range - not sure whether or not to submit so was eager to look at this thread but seems like SAT scores are the only ones mentioned |
PP was not referring to ED for both, I think |
| Never mind - see the ACT scores. Sorry! |
