For those applying ED to UVA this week

I can acknowledge that VT has a very good (and in some cases stronger) engineering program, but would still choose UVA 100 times out of 100. Would totally understand others choosing VT. Lucky in VA to have many great options.

If you are someone who has disproportionate individual test scores within the composite but your composite is in the 50% do you get dinged? Ex. Engineering applicant crushing the math but bombing the reading or English major doing the opposite.

No one can answer that definitively. There is no hard and fast cutoff and test score is just one factor. If you didn't do great on verbal but got an A in AP Lang and a 5 on the AP test I'm sure that could balance things out.

+2 Our school (DMV private) shows a 4.4 is needed if applying EA. My DC has a 4.25 now in fall of 12th, but should be at a 4.4+ when they graduate, which is what the scattergrams show. Fingers crossed!!

Yes, I was going to point that out. GPAs shown are for the end of the senior year so in theory many student GPAs go up. Our Naviance shows a graduating 4.45 is the sweet spot. My DC is applying EA. Has a 4.39 and a 1340 (applying test optional).

Yes, usually on or slightly before the 15th. Last year was 12/13. All historical release dates are on Dean Js page.

my child didn't even take ACT - only focused on SAT. (figured it didn't matter and thought it would save us money)
