I’m a liberal who wants my DD to have access to an abortion if she needs it.

If this were my criteria for where my DD goes to college, I would consider myself a massive failure as her mother.

Presumably if DD is attending college, she has enough resources to travel home or to another state.

So dramatic. Imagine living your entire life based and making decisions based on the relative ease of terminating a pregnancy.

No doubt same crowd with anti- Elon car decals on their Teslas. Time for them to get a job at Walmart.

Yes. I am concerned about the attempts of certain states to criminalize abortion and would not want my DD or DS there for that reason. I would encourage them to look elsewhere but would support them if they chose one of those states.

Based on this thread, it sounds like red states are desperate to have liberals come there.

You do realize there are states attempting to criminalize travel for abortion care.

It’s just about values. If I value science and education and healthcare and the economy and free speech, why would I choose to move to a place where the state government is against these things and where a majority of the people voted for government who is against these things?

^Enough. Please take it to poltical board. These lefty liberals were never going South to begin with and their kids weren’t getting invites to Sorority Row. Enjoy Wesleyan

Saying it is strictly about abortion is over-simplifying it. It is about OB/GYNs not being able to use their judgement for fear of being thrown in jail. Your little virginal princess could have an issue that requires medical expertise and might not be able to find a qualified doctor to help them. And no, flying home is not always the answer.

Similarly, these are the states that are now deciding vaccines are a bad idea. You can live in your little blue on-campus bubble but at some point hopefully will be venturing off campus and will have to interact with the locals.

And who knows how next their obnoxious MAGA legislatures will decide to "stick it to the libs" and come up with some other law that sets the country back several hundred years. These people do not want what is best for the country - their sole goal is to make Democrats angry, even if they are making things worse for themselves.

I also don't want my kid to have to be driving around and seeing statues of a racist loser like Charlie Kirk (no, he didn't deserve to die, but he was evil).

DD was recruited for UNC, but as a woman and minority, decided it was not a great environment.

Ridiculous. Atlanta, Nashville, Houston, and Austin are home to probably the best medical complexes in the country. That's exactly where cutting edge science and medical research is happening today - the south.

Imagine living your entire life behaving in such a manner that immediate and easy access to an abortion is your primary criteria for where you live, study or work.
