University choice and state political climate

Yes. We ruled out some T25 in conservative states. DS at an ivy in the northeast. Very glad. DS will not be looking at Bible Belt or states that have restrictive reproductive rights laws. Looking in Maryland, northeast, CA.

No one cares. Truly. When I got into Harvard Law, it never once occurred to me to check into the law of Massachusetts to see if I was comfortable with its provisions (get a grip, folks!)

I’m so sorry that your fancy Harvard Law degree didn’t teach you to see the differences between the legal landscape between the 90s and today.

The world no longer understands nuance. Particularly MAGA people. Say something negative about them, Trump, Kirk, or whatever else and they get so defensive. A sign of intellect is being able to admit weaknesses in the side you support. I can tell you plenty of negatives about my side. But I still think it is much better than the other side.

OMG, the irony... people like you label ANYONE who espouses a different opinion, "MAGA". Yet here you are, lecturing others on nuance. Please take your own advice and realize that no one has to agree 100% with you and that different opinions or disagreements don't mean one is an extremist.

Yes. My daughter is black so that’s already 2 strikes. We have to choose wisely.

Sorry - one too many betweens. I got distracted by one of my children in the middle of typing.

We abhor MAGAs.

Well bless your heart.

I agree never ever to any red state.

Only idiots who have never read Project 2025 will do so. I can not wait for their DD to be breeders, not to leave the state. Yep you didnt' read the state laws or Project 2025 idiots.

This poster and her craze over 2025 only spreads hate and discontent. She's all over all threads and is so identifiable that she's basically just creating her own echo chamber.

It would be great if people would just report her instead of engaging. The mods know exactly who she is.

These liberals are unhinged. In our moderate wealthy suburb in a deep blue state kids are flocking south. Go to any lacrosse game or baseball or soccer game on a given Saturday and very few Teslas(none with the anti Elon decal) or EV Audis. Cars of choice are Suburbans, Navigators, or Jeep Wagoneer. Attractive families, normal with no nose rings. These kids want no part of Tufts, Brown, Columbia etc. Only the small real liberal fraction seeks those schools and most of their parents are transplants. Majority of those kids do not play sports.

Just curious - has she considered HBCUs? Obviously, I don’t think she HAS to and encourage her to go wherever she pleases. It just feels like they seem to offer some “protection” for lack of a better word.

A friend of mine from IN has a son currently at Howard and he LOVES it. A friend from nova has a son at an HBCU in TN - he just started. A good friend of mine applied to Hampton back in the day-she chose a different school in the end, but I know it was a top option.

This is the profile of a MAGA suburb, East or West. So there is no surprise here.

And you know very well that many top black students prefer schools outside the New England Ivies.
