No, they do not know. The process was mentioned in the first 3-4 comments in this thread. Everything else is speculative from that comment. |

Is it just a rumor that someone applied? Or are we confident that they applied and we are waiting on approval?
Anyone know which clubs? Would love to see another option besides BSC in MoCo for girls. |
Why? So they can water down further the talent. Name one team that is doing well in an EDP Division 1. BSC is pulling from outside MoCo to get good players. Pipeline, BA, Celtic are not very good across most age groups. Coppermine is good across one age group. FCGB, Juventus, and any other small club in the county can't compete with Bethesda. The talent isn't there. |
| Valid points |
PPA is doing amazing in girls at least. Just to answer your question |
| No they aren’t… they have 1 ok team ranked at 165 |
Most of the smaller clubs have 4-5 quality players who could compete on that level. They're "stuck" on teams with lower talent filling out the lineup and roster. If there was another option besides BSC many of those players could join together. Add them to the players living in MoCo but playing elsewhere (Loudoun, McLean, MD United, etc) and you'd have something. There's a million people in MoCo, there's just not the same options for girls soccer like in NoVA or Bmore. BSC can pull players from all over but that doesn't mean everyone has to be at that level with future pros and NT members. Having another ECNL team would give more girls in MoCo the exposure to play after high school. |
I doubt there are 4-5 more players per team out there who aren't playing at BSC. You have to be at a certain level; otherwise, you will get crushed. You can see that by watching High school soccer. |
OK Bethesda dad. |
There are plenty of teams with 4-5 players who are equal to Bethesda’s first team. However, their teammates are not nearly as strong as those kids and as a result they still get whipped. You forget that 1 bad apple cause lose you a game. Imagine 5-7. Bethesda is so strong becsuse their entire starting lineup is good. Even the subs. They even have players on their second teams better than their first team players lol |
| For my DDs year, PPA is as strong as Bethesda 1, and this was proven in a game. (DD not on either team but know many on both). But other than PPA, there is nowhere else to go but BSC. So yes, BSC is stacked. I think 1st team coach looks for a certain type of player, too, so if you don’t fit that mold, you won’t play there. Mold is mostly big, confident, and skilled. Only one small but excellent player on that team… of 24 on the roster. I don’t know the answer but really agree that MD side should look more like VA side in terms of options. It is frustrating. |
This is a ridiculously high level of delusion. If they COULD play at ECNL, they WOULD. To say that 4-5 players on teams are equal to the ECNL team players makes absolutely no sense. The competition in this area would be high beyond belief. There might be 1 hidden gem per team and they usually end up getting recruited by those ecnl teams. |
No. This is not true. Maybe kid has another high level interest. Theater, music, a job. Maybe parents can’t support the travel. Not everyone who is a great player wants that level of travel (or abuse in the case of BSC). |
This - the culture at BSC definitely concerning. Do some families eventually move over because they feel like they have no choice? Sure, but do some families refuse to subject their DC to that kind of culture/abuse? Absolutely. |
If your kid understands the game, you will not have any problems. And yes some move over because it's the only option and they want to play high school soccer. |
