There is plenty of talent, but if you don't make BSC 1 or 2 (or choose not to for other reasons) you are forced to go to VA or Bmore or PG for anything besides EDP level play. There are plenty of girls every year who live in Moco, play HS in Moco, announce college commitments - but then you see they are at some club who practices an hour+ away (which just doesn't work for most).

People are always accused of badge chasing, but it's undeniable that having that badge helps with recruiting and getting those players to come try out.

There simply aren't enough girls in MoCo to fill another ECNL team. Yes, there are a handful who do not play for Bethesda for one reason or another who are at that level, but if you put them all together you couldn't fill a roster. Maybe another RL team, but not ECNL.

In NoVa:
ECNL- Arlington, VDA, Union, NVA
ECRL - 12 teams (obviously too many)
GA - SYC, St James, VA Revolution

In Bmore/PG:
ECNL- Pipeline, MD United
ECRL - Pipeline, MD United
GA - Armour, Celtic, Coppermine

In MoCo/Frederick:
Bethesda. That's it.

Give MoCo girls an option. It's a huge missing opportunity.

I don't hate Bethesda like many on here, but would love another option within reasonable driving distance.
I fixed Nova for you:

In NoVa:
ECNL- Arlington, VDA, Union
ECRL - 12 teams (obviously too many)
GA - SYC, St James (rumor is they are losing it), VA Revolution, McLean, NVA, Loudoun (getting announced Thursday)

And its not because they have better talent, coaching, fields, nope it pure monopoly on a region, that is being put under a microscope now becuase they've pissed off too many consumers and their business model is shabby to be kind. If they go or not it makes not matter at this point there will be another ECNL club in MD, more than likely MoCo.

From where huh? What team around here is strong enough to compete at the ecnl level? None. If a new one started through a fusion of teams, you maybe pull the RL girls from BSC but believe me the difference in skill between the NL and RL teams is quite large. They would be last place in NA conference for a very long time.

So while everyone hopes for another MoCo team, unfortunately it won’t turn out the way people hope.

Don’t you think they need to give teams/clubs the opportunity to compete at that level in order to improve? What’s the difference between a new team or club being in last vs. the current teams in last losing every weekend?

There’s simply not enough talent for two competitive ecnl teams in MoCo.

You don’t think MoCo has 36 high level players per age group?

Considering that FVU and Arlington have significant number of MoCo girls, and anyone typically from DC. I would beg to differ.

MoCo girls are filling other ECNL/GA rosters because they don't want to play at BSC. Could easily create a second top team in this area

I think it’s Liverpool

They have 3 teams in Maryland. That’s a lot no?

I saw they have an ECNL team in Michigan so they have gone that route before.

Agree. And, I agree RL and NL gap is large, but that is by team. Not for every player. Many RL teams have several girls that can pull their weight—they just aren’t necessarily BETTER than current NL starters. So take some NL bench, top RL, and other clubs, presto you have a team.

a team that will be no better, no worse than MDU has currently so why not

Of course you can make a team with bench players and RL players. It just won’t be a competitive team. So now you have a weakened team that lost their bench and another team that will get crushed…

Hence not enough players for two competitive ecnl moco teams.

so now you're just like nova ecnl teams, cry us a river

They do have 3 locations in MD, but they're spread out Hagerstown/MoCo/Anne Arundel. Even if you created one "super" team they would need to add players from other clubs. And there would certainly be some issues traveling to practices being so spread out.
