| I heard a rumor that there was a group of smaller clubs in moco that were merging to form an ECNL or ECRL team. Is this true? |
| Yes |
|
So, several lower level clubs are merging to create one bigger club to play in ECNL? Correct?
While I applaud the action + wish all teams involved nothing but the best.... If this was happening on the GA side there would be a neverending chorus of how desperate merging clubs is to achieve a badge. Quickly followed by how the league is being watered down from allowing clubs like this to participate. |
| Is this for next fall? What age groups? DS didn’t want to play for Potomac (former club) and the VA teams conflicted with HS so would love to see a new option in MoCo. |
| My best guess is they will start with ECRL and then try to graduate. BSC could use a competitor |
| Lol I’ll believe it when I see it. |
| Potomac already has ECNL for Boys, so it would be shocking if they are not part of this. Anyone remember Metro United? |
| My guess is ppa and potomac |
|
For Boys:
Going to be something like TP Sport for life and Elite Soccer (of Frederick) coming together - practice in Northern Moco. These are predominantly Latino teams who each rocked their respective EDP brackets… Or some teams whose common practice site is soccerplex. It will not be Potomac (they are already in ECNL). It will not be Bethesda (they are in MLS next which obviates ECNL for them on boys side). |
| I’m guessing Liverpool. Maybe they join the Maryland programs together and establish a location on the border of MoCo. I think they have 3 central, west, and DC |
Rumor is very likely that they applied because a bunch apply. But approval isn't announced until Feb/Mar so a rumor that someone was accepted already would be most likely jumping the gun. The timing makes things tight for the accepted clubs to market for spring tryouts. The application has boys and girls separate, not sure if special consideration is given to clubs applying for both. I spoke to someone who had their program apply and was accepted. If I understand correctly, at first they were denied based on team records which they later improved and were accepted. Gives the impression that the process could take years. Other than that one instance, I have no idea on what goes into acceptance. But it does seem like there will be some kind of realignment with ECNL/RL Northeast south and North Atlantic as these have odd overlaps, pointless travel and Coppermine isn't even in the same group as Pipeline or Celtic. Would make sense that this would include someone like FC Frederick or Elevate moving to ECRL so ECNL/RL can increase its territory and get enough teams to put together an ECRL Maryland(ish) group like ECRL Virginia (pure speculation on my part here as I don't know the politics of who wants what). |
ECNL needs whatever it can get. MLSNext is the true #1 |
| It would be awesome if this happened for girls in Moco. There is nothing other than Bethesda. |
You must be a teenage boy. |
| BSC going GA? |
