John Oliver slams Democrats who think transgender people lost them the election

I don’t think this is why Kamala lost.

Honestly, it was a combo of all the social stuff together.

And this combo is why many decided to not vote at all or simply vote third party.

If it’s such a small portion of the country, why is my HR dept DEMANDING that I start including my pronouns on company emails and correspondence?

Because I don’t understand why I need to do that for such a small portion of the country.

Thank God my company doesn't do that. Geez. So what if you say no? Goes against your religious rights.

Maybe you should show this article to your HR department:

I’ll take “things that didn’t happen” for $100.

But if it’s true, what’s the big deal??? Why is asking people to be respectful of everyone too much to ask????

Not the PP but seriously? It's exactly why this is an issue -- back at you...why is asking people to be respectful of everyone too much to ask????

It absolutely IS happening to me right now. A major media company based in northern Virginia is demanding that all employees- thousands of them all over the country- include their pronouns on all company email signatures.

So we want to be respectful of “everyone”? And what happened to being respectful to ME, who doesn’t want to engage in pronoun silliness?

If you're "pointing the blame at one specific demographic" for Democrats' losses in last week's elections, you're gravely "missing the mark," according to John Oliver.

The comedian tackled Kamala Harris' defeat during the most recent episode of Last Week Tonight, calling out supposed progressives who have turned against transgender people and blamed so-called "woke" issues for Donald Trump's win.

"It's telling how quickly some are jumping to predetermined conclusions that don't match the campaign that just wrapped up," Oliver said. "For instance, some Democrats are loudly claiming that the party needs to move to the center."

The host then referenced comments from New York congressman Tom Suozzi, a Democrat, who recently argued that "the Democrats have to stop pandering to the far left ... I don't want to discriminate against anybody, but I don't think biological boys should be playing in girls' sports." Other Democratic lawmakers have made similar claims in the wake of Harris' loss.

If you watch the clip, he is very forcefully rejecting the argument Suozzi made.

It's not "one specific" thing that went wrong for Democrats. It's a whole host of things. The trans issue was just one among dozens and a lot of it came from the identity-politics wing of progressives.

Then don’t do it.

Not at all the same. There is no reason that it’s disrespectful to ask you to respect everyone. Do you have any social skills?

Sounds like you’d be thrilled to sign off she/her so you can more clearly let everyone know you’re not “one of them”.

OK so people don't like the pervasiveness of pronouns and the gender issue. I get that it is uncomfortable.

I just don't understand voting for Trump because of it.

Also, lots of Dems won down ballot. As in, Trump won at the top but Dems won races below that ie in NC. Even in my county in a red state went Trump/D Senate.

Is the gender issue all tied up just with Harris? Because these posts make it sound like all Dems.
