It's possible the people living in the neighborhoods around Hooes Road do not want lights on every field. I don't think this is something the club can arbitrarily do. They have to go through the county. Maybe it has been tried previously and the neighbors and county said no? I do not know.

I'm on the board of a different sports organization in Fairfax County, and let me tell you the county is terrible about helping youth sports leagues (just look at old meeting minutes for the Fairfax County Athletic Council). We have 2 fields regularly permitted to us that we fought to get approval for lights at. 5 years later the approval has happened but there are still no lights.

Sounds about right. FFX compared to PWC or Arlington has to be a challenge to promote youth sports. I've been to many different fields in the area and it doesn't matter the organization, they have to split the fields between a LOT of different programs. One big thing is most fields lose access to FXA right at 9pm I've noticed for whichever sport that have going.

Quoted PP here. The prioritizing of adult sports over youth sports is ridiculous (and against their stated policies) and definitely happens.

What is SYC soccer style and philosophy? Maybe this question and responses to it, won't get deleted and people can share the info.

Apparently posts about lightings at hoos and uniforms are ok to keep, but really how superficial is that to keep those posts and delete others.

What club has a style and philosophy would be a better question. Because I'll tell you right now, there isn't a club in this area that has a style of play, finds players that fit it, and hammers it in day in and day out. Combination of dilution, competition between clubs, they're just kids, so on and so forth. This is a business, running a club in the way you're describing, they would lose money because parents care about results or trophies af u-little.

Agree, there isn't an identifiable style by any club. Alexandria used to with the top teams only and even that is no longer the case. Style of play is very coach and player dependent.

This is common, and then they lose their players to bigger clubs and it happens all over the country. The nature of creating barriers of entry into leagues to protect profits.

Those saying it is coach dependent are correct. Most clubs worldwide do not have a style and philosophy that is the same top down and bottom up. If they do, once the director of football leaves and the manager leaves the style can change because the new people coming in want to play a different way.

So many people on this board want to live in dreamland where there is a perfect system that all kids are taught. It doesn't work that way. Find what works for you and your child. Also be willing to accept that your kid may not be a world class player no matter their desire and who is teaching what. And you know what? That's ok. Let them enjoy it and as a parent don't ruin their experience.

How you know this?

Current family with SYC, I can confirm SYC is very coach dependent. Practice drills are at the coach's discretion.

Really??? My kid was out there years ago from Barca and his (and my take) was Sal seemed to favor kick ball style. It was nothing like Barca.
