We are with Arlington and we never have issues with fields. |
This is what all the clubs do in Socal. As an example say there's one lighted football field. Clubs will break it into 4 sections with teams that are roughly the same age. Each section focuses on small sided games, or shooting and/or defending type drills. Sometimes 2 of the 4 teams will combine their fields and do scrimmages. Coaches always have the drills they're going to go through planned out before the practice starts. Different drills are timed because you can see all 4 coaches changing at the same time. With Littles I've seen a field broken down into as many as 12 sections who usually combine into 6 for scrimmages at the end of practice. |
I don't think many other programs are changing fields week to week if that is in fact true for SYC. That would be a bit of a scheduling nightmare for players and parents. |
Arlington and PWSI/VDA/VSA are probably the exception to the rule in the area for clubs using public fields. Plenty of fields to spread out, even with as many teams as they have, and dont have to deal with FXA adult sports. |
| No issue for us "having to change week to week." I can't speak for every team but the days our child practices, the practice is always held at the same location as the week before. |
SYC parent here, haven't experienced this but this is just my experience. Been consistently 3x a week at south run, beginning of the year was a little bit of a shuffle between south run and WS high school. |
Same here, occasionally some changes, but overall pretty consistent. |
Thank you. This forum can be useful, but the fixation by some adults with certain clubs/teams is insane. |
In fairness, some parents at this particular club have become mentally unbalanced. It could be a combination of things and I'm sure a professional psychologist would have a field day studying it but it has been apparent for a while. |

SYC has a field issue.
Fairfax County needs to put lights on every field at Hooes, not just one. |
I do have to agree that for a club the size of SYC, why haven't the board or directors pushed for improvements to alleviate field problems? |
I think part of the issue is that they rely on a few HS fields and when they have events, it forces the reshuffling of fields and space to accommodate everyone. My kid doesn't train on one of the grass fields but when they have heavy rain, it forces the club to also move those teams. |
Baseless and is only included to cause trouble. There has not been a dedicated SYC thread, to my knowledge, until now. And so far, everyone in this thread is behaving civilly. This is merely a troll post. |
Loisdale was refreshed over the summer. And younger kids/lower level teams practice at Hooes, so I don't think they care enough to bother. |
It's possible the people living in the neighborhoods around Hooes Road do not want lights on every field. I don't think this is something the club can arbitrarily do. They have to go through the county. Maybe it has been tried previously and the neighbors and county said no? I do not know. |
