+1 but not just SCOTUS nominees, also cabinet members and lower court judges.

Not all legislation. Suppose they ditch the filibuster and pass a voting rights bill that includes making DC and Puerto Rico states as well as the Reapportionment Act of 1929, which capped the total number of seats in the House of Representatives. I, for one, would like to see that act repealed and DC and Puerto Rico added, if their citizens want representation. Also, having Reps represent a much smaller population would do a lot to reduce gerrymandering and bring them closer to their constituents.

Hogan is/was solid as an executive in government. He should have run for POTUS but he would never be popular with the ignorant MAGA crowd. Alsobrooks is a good politician. She should be running for a seat in Congress. I must say that I find it hard to believe a politician from PG County can be taken seriously on the state and national level considering high crime rates, struggling public school system, and poverty levels found in PG County. What exactly has improved in PG County over the past 20 years?

An attorney who deals with mcps and pgcps- they aren't that different. All schools are struggling now

Her experience as a DA and a county exec is far better experience and far less of a leap than going from a college football coach to the Senate (Tuberville)
Better than going from a book author and venture capitalist to the Senate (Vance).
Better than a college professor going to the Senate (Warren).
Better than an accountant and machine operator in his wife's family business going to the Senate (R Johnson)
An actor and radio personality going to the Senate (Franken)

This is not to denigrate any of them. The career politician is a 20th century creation and was not the case in the first century and a half in our nation. The original Congress was supposed to be filled with people of all walks of life so that we had different perspectives in forming our legal system. But now, we have career politicians who come up through the system.

Crime Reduction:
Alsobrooks has focused on enhancing public safety through community policing and increased investment in law enforcement. Her administration has also worked on improving community engagement and preventive measures. As a result, crime rates have generally shown a downward trend in recent years.

Education:
In terms of education, Alsobrooks has supported initiatives to improve school facilities, increase funding, and enhance educational programs. There has been progress in addressing some of the challenges faced by local schools. The school that scored highest/best in the state on the last MCAP is a PGCPS with a 95% brown and black population.

Improvements over the last 20 years:

Business Growth and job creation
New and improved healthcare facilities
Enhancement to public transportation, public facilities, and green spaces
Several new schools and school renovations

+1. Voting Hogan. She's not ready for prime time in the Senate.

Everything has improved in PG County over the past 20 years.

Joe Biden was a county council member, not even the county executive, when he won his race for Senate.

He could have run as an Independent. That would have been a good election year.

Hogan's education policy and open disdain for Montgomery County are reasons to vote against him. Alsobrooks has solid education plans.

Hahahahaha. The original Congress was voted in by aristocratic men. No one else had the right to vote!
The members of Congress were even more aloof.

I mean some might say his disdain for Elrich and MoCo are a positive.

Is someone on the Supreme Court dying? I missed that AP headline.

Thomas and Alito are both planning to retire if Trump wins and they have the Senate.

It’s really impossible to be an anti Trump Republican in the senate. They drove out Romney and Flake. And look at all the ones who bend the knee even after Trump said awful things about them and their families — people like Ted Cruz.

People have to take responsibility at the state level.
