Take note: threatening an attack on a concert in the name of your religion or politics is bananas. Indefensible.

I am a swiftie in a house of swifties. I don’t know that Taylor/her fans were the “targets” so much as it was an event and location that met their needs. Huge crowds of westerners, announced months ago (plenty of time to plan) and plenty of distraction with the olympics going on.
I feel awful for everyone who was looking forward to this once in a lifetime event but am so thankful that officials were able to stop it from becoming a horrible reality.

Yes, but there's really no denying the full implications here - a stadium full of women listening to a concert performed by one of the most famous women in the world in the European capital where the Ottoman Empire's expansion was stopped in its tracks. I don't believe that's a coincidence.

For people who paid a lot on ticket resale platforms like stub hub or vivid get a full refund right? If I were doing that I’d try to find some travel insurance if they still do that for it these days.

The hype has faded a ton. There are younger pop stars who are organically more popular than her. She’s sorta old news. She’s a middle aged pop star. It happens.

Are you auditioning for a This is Your Brain on Drugs commercial?

I have seen very little security or police presence compared to other European cities but I’m glad they thwarted this attack. Swifties will be ok. I prefer my kids to focus on the heartbreak of missing the concert over the fear of what could have taken place. They don’t need that kind of anxiety.

What did you tell your kids about the concert?

They are teens. We told them that the government prevented a planned terror attack and canceled the concerts.

Oh, I definitely think it was about taking out TS specifically and thousands of her fans specifically.

This assumes a) the venues aren’t already booked for other events, b) it would even be safe or advisable for her to to return to a city where there was a terrorist plot against her show. She doesn’t cancel ever, let alone lightly, but let’s not pretend just “adding a show” is a simple endeavor.

She could rebook them anywhere in Europe. Her audience seems very rich with people spending thousands for tickets and flights to hear a couple hours of music so I am sure they will just get new flights to wherever she reschedules and the tickets can just transfer over.

This is globalizing the intifada people. Open your eyes.

"She" (Taylor) didn't cancel. It was the Austrian government who made the call. And thank God we aren't here discussing why didn't they take appropriate measures after a bunch of kids were killed at a concert by a terrorist attack.

She, they, who cares who- it was canceled which is unheard of for her. That doesn’t mean she can easily just add a few dates though.

Yes, those people flying to Europe to attend her concerts just haven’t gotten the message yet.

It did target her concert, it was credible and "With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety"

Austrian investigators unearthed chemicals at the house of the main suspect. Police earlier announced that suspects had taken “concrete preparatory measures” for a terror attack.

Good job to security and officials who uncovered the plot.
