If having coaches, families and players remain loyal to an organization that doesn't stand by their mission then yes, a move is needed. I don't have the background of the disagreements behind the scenes to say this was or wasn't "the proper way to do such a move". Sure, all the adults could taken more professional actions. My only and main point here is, don't let these actions impact the kids. Was it a rule or law that mandated the director to forfeit these kids from the tournament?? It was out of spite, period. And a disgraceful action on her part.

What about the coach who took whole teams to tryout at another club with the intent of leaving current club to join new club and taking them with him?

I'm not aware of any of the kids actively trying out at other clubs until these changes were announced. All the kids were committed to ending this season and these actions by all of the leaders truly came as a surprise to everyone. All families had to make very tough, unplanned decisions these epast few weeks. I was unaware these contracts are longer than 10 months, any family has the right to switch leagues in the Fall, no? And if the league they are playing on no longer commits to their values then why wouldn't families want to follow a coach that does....after the season ends though, right? The children weren't given that opportunity to finish due to a very poor decision.

Children are victims of the coach who is taking them to Potomac, the director who cancelled rest of season and the parents who went along with the coach to abandon ROSA for Potomac and the shiny new ECNL/RL badges.

"....taking them to Potomac" .....in the FALL?!?!? How does this decision impact this CURRENT season?? Are families not allowed to switch leagues next season?? I'm so confused, so cancelling this current season was the right thing to do??? Purely spiteful!

You all clearly have not been involved in travel soccer for very long. This happens all the time everywhere. Kids and parents have the right to leave for another club at the end of the season. These small clubs are nothing but a money making business. What makes them worse is that they dilute age groups. You don't see this many small clubs in any northern Virginia county and MoCo has a smaller amount of residents thus diluting the talent even further.

Fairly certain Potomac has rules or contract provisions against this type of thing, so I doubt this coach/director will pull this maneuver again. Not a good look though for him. Also there is no way that all these players (and certainly not the coaches) are going to the ECNL or RL teams. Are they the new C or D teams?

I’m not involved in this whatsoever and this resonates with me. Families have to make decisions that they feel is best for their child, and that may mean playing for certain coaches. If my child had a connection with a coach and wanted to play with him somewhere else NEXT year because he is moving on, you’ve really got some nerve to pull the rug out on the rest of this year and/or lump me in as some sort of bad actor/conspirator. Unless there is more to the story, this is a knee jerk bush league reaction that is shameful.

Every time I feel like I can’t be more disappointed in the state of youth soccer (e.g., what BSC has become), there’s more like this. It is kids soccer! The first and foremost priority always has to be about them and letting them play. Nothing good happens when controlling, egotistical adults get in the way and lose sight of this.

This thread is an utter joke with Jill trying to defend her decision of forfeiting these kids from their final tournaments of the season. All because they are choosing another league NEXT season. Absolutely outrageous.

“All” as in the dozens of kids who this should actually be about? What a pathetic response and this is coming from someone who has nothing to do with the situation at all. Outside observer to this thread. The kids certainly didn’t do anything (and I don’t buy the parents part either ….).

This is straight up anger and retaliation because the club is in trouble for next year. This was probably written by a ROSA insider which says all you need to know about that place to have no consideration for what matters—the kids.

Interested to see how he's able to take entire teams from club to club

Holding accolades, licenses, accomplishments really isn't what is takes to be a great coach amongst kids. When you see someone's passion for the sport, wanting to see growth in each kid and learning the right coaching skills for individual players is when you watch teams grow together, have fun and work hard. It's a real joy to see as a parent.
