ROSA legends? What happened?

He is an amazing coach evidenced by the fact that many of the families gave little thought to moving to Potomac next season because HE was the reason we came to ROSA to begin with. Not once did any player or parent conspire to ruin what was left of ROSA’s 23-24 season. Our kids were ready to wear their jerseys and play proudly — which would’ve only given ROSA more exposure/PR. This was a retaliatory action against players who CHOSE to move on from ROSA for the 24-25 season. Plain and simple.

Who is this pied piper coach and can someone post his soccer background accomplishments, coaching resume and licenses?
Interested to see how he's able to take entire teams from club to club

Holding accolades, licenses, accomplishments really isn't what is takes to be a great coach amongst kids. When you see someone's passion for the sport, wanting to see growth in each kid and learning the right coaching skills for individual players is when you watch teams grow together, have fun and work hard. It's a real joy to see as a parent.

Then "great" is definitely subjective here

Well I'm speaking for young kids here, U8. "Great" coach is definitely a subjective opinion and a personal one too.

As if ALL families were conspiring to take down the club, this I can say is 100% false. Nobody with kids has time for that shit, good luck ROSA.

Good for Jill

They forfeiting you, forfeit them 😊 lol

It honestly is funny. What a mature move by Jill, she stuck it to them but too bad she no longer has a boy's league

I'm Team Jill all da way 😂

You must be getting a cut from the league's "budget" which she hasn't shared with a single person, ever. You're on that nonexistent board of directors huh, hmm 😂

Not a ROSA family, but our season ended a little early too (no rainouts to make up, knocked out of state cup, etc). So looking forward to a weekend and a few weeks off before training ramps up for high school soccer!!!! The family time is precious … enjoy it

You know, let the kids be kids. Go to the beach, take a camping trip, go to the museums downtown.

My son is in one of the Rosa teams that is moving from Rosa to Potomac next season.
We loved our time in Rosa and wish things would have ended better (like any marriage). The coach in question (that was also the director of the boys side) is one of the best communicators that I have seen in youth sports. My son loves playing for him and has improved by leaps and bounds under his care. When I told my son that the coach was moving to Potomac next season and that we could "shop around" and look at many options, he refused. He was adamant about sticking with his coach. My son feels that, through hard work, he has learned the system that the coach likes to run, has earned his trust and will continue playing the same position after a season perfecting it. A new coach, would in many ways, mean starting from scratch for him.
Personally, I could care less what academy he is playing at, but I do care about the coach and this coach has done right by my kid every time.
It is indeed sad that the season was finished abruptly, but life goes on.
I am sure Rosa will recover from this in a few years. They had a great thing going and they can do it again once cooler heads prevail.

Also there is no way that all these players (and certainly not the coaches) are going to the ECNL or RL teams. Are they the new C or D teams?

Note that FTC outlawed non compete agreements (but lawsuits ironing the details remain) recently so an "influential" coach could get a nice a bonus for leaving a program and taking players with them. Everybody is really a free agent.

Does anyone know what the receiving club in this case Potomac would offer the coach that brought over players and teams?

For starters, the "bonus" is that they might pay him for his work. The coach has not paid a penny in the past two years working 30 hours+ per week for Rosa.

How is this even possible? Why would he work that much for free?

I believe this is called 'Spin' in the world of politics

You're saying this is the proper way to do such a move?

Well, he was ROSA to us. He is the person who built the boy's program. We had never even seen AR or JR. We joined the program b/c of him (and his coaches) and we'd go to whatever team he led or recommended. AR and JR lost all credibility when they pulled the tournament stunt. Additionally, they made it sound like he recruited all these kids prior to (in my experience) and did something shady when that was absolutely NOT the case. He seemed to go above and beyond to do things the right way, and that's a credit to him.

If having coaches, families and players remain loyal to an organization that doesn't stand by their mission then yes, a move is needed. I don't have the background of the disagreements behind the scenes to say this was or wasn't "the proper way to do such a move". Sure, all the adults could taken more professional actions. My only and main point here is, don't let these actions impact the kids. Was it a rule or law that mandated the director to forfeit these kids from the tournament?? It was out of spite, period. And a disgraceful action on her part.

What about the coach who took whole teams to tryout at another club with the intent of leaving current club to join new club and taking them with him?
Ethical?

He didn't "take" any teams with them. He went elsewhere and people followed him because he's that good. We joined ROSA so my son could play with his friends, we are staying with this coach, because he's the best coach we've had. Plain and simple. He was ALWAYS above board...always.

If the hairdresser you LOVE, goes to another local salon, you follow them to whatever salon they've chosen.
