No reason to bail him out now. Once he’s out, there will be serial votes for the next speaker and McCarthy will be one of the candidates. Jeffries can offer his votes to McCarthy or some other candidate who will give him concessions. Jeffries will have more leverage at that point.

With whom?

The interest of Dems is to vote him out, to flex their power, and THEN, to enter into negotiations to support a moderate R Speaker, in exchange for concessions. But they need to sink McCarthy first, to prove what they're willing to do and why he, or someone else, needs to come to them hat in hand.
