Our counselor and school psychologist use this info to see if there are any trends that we should be addressing as a school. Like if there is an overwhelming majority scores saying that students don’t feel like they’re part of a community, that might be something administrators could work on as a school goal with the entire staff. It’s one data point that can help develop some larger schoolwide goals. |
No. They thrive off the dopamine of that feeling of “righteous” indignation. |

Says the person admitting that the survey isn’t everything people say it is. |
You can actually view the SEL survey with the exact questions online. One of the questions was about race. It didn’t belong in the survey. After I saw the survey, I opted out.
You can also view the Fairfax County survey. That one is even more inappropriate. |
Yeah, so inappropriate: Cultural Awareness and Action (grades 6-12 only) How well my school and community help me…learn about, discuss, and confront issues of race, ethnicity, and culture with my peers in school. |
Why? |
DP: What kind of question is this? I cannot imagine that most kids take this seriously. I'm guessing that most kids just circle something to be done with it. Wonder how "hibachi restaurant" SB member would answer this.....which do you think she would pick? My guess is "almost always." But, does that mean she is sensitive to these issues? Hardly. It's just an opportunity to "virtue signal."
31. How often do you think about what someone of a different race, ethnicity, or culture experiences? Almost never Once in a while Sometimes Frequently Almost always |
Sit down. Parents were violently out of control. Spurred by political opportunists. AKA lying Republicans. https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/usa-education-threats/ |
+1 External agitators spreading lies for Republicans for the upcoming elections. They have no platform, only lies. |
I wish I had your simple life. Where these things are the big complaints of the day. Get a life. |
You are a delicate flower aren't you? Perhaps homeschooling your little snowflake would be more to your liking. Don't let the door hit you . . . |
Everything mentioned in that post was accurate. If you read the entire post, it said SEL screener AND the county survey. Between both surveys, ALL of those topics are covered and more. |
Which grade level(s) do the county survey? |
The grade 3-5 SEL screener seems tame to me.
https://www.fcps.edu/student-tests-and-assessments/student-assessment-details/social-emotional-screener/grades-3-12 My students do have difficulty with some of the questions. For example, 15. To what extent were you able to disagree with others without starting an argument? I know many of my students confidently answer “Not at all” because they don’t think they disagree with others, therefore there is no opportunity for an argument. |
