Yes, the same team also easily beat Battlefield and they had a number of their top players there that game as compared to Yorktown today. |
Logic doesn't sit well with most on this page, so your analysis will fall on deaf ears. Too many nova dads trying to equate 7 v 7 winter league to state championships. Battlefield will find out soon enough that it takes more than 7 players to compete with the big dogs. |
It's winter league, again, no one cares and its all for fun. No way can you compare winter league with full field in the spring. Seems like Battlefield parents just trying to hype up their team. Why not just resume this post midway through the spring season after some results. |
Battlefield parents and their coaching staff know where this team is at and have no reason to hype. |
You are a moron. Yorktown lost to Capital Blue 2026, #16 ranked 2026 club team in the country. Besides the fact they are super-talented, they practice and play together year around, and play against the top club teams in the country. Yorktown is a high school team. They play together in the spring and here and there in the fall and winter with no practices outside of optional green days and the spring season. They do not all play for the same clubs, and some do not even play club lacrosse. Also, for the St James winter league only about a third of the actual spring team is playing, and some were brought up from JV to have enough players to have 2 or 3 subs. So yes, Capital put on a clinic. They were awesome, as they should be. But as others have said above, ad nauseum, this is an indoor, small field 7v7 league with no draws taken, etc. It does not translate to full field and full team. To imply (or actually outright say in your post) "Yorktown has no defense this year." based on this game is just ignorant and asinine. None of Yorktown's starting defenders or middies from last spring were even there. It's more accurate to say, a skeleton crew from Yorktown Varsity and JV lost handily to one of the top 2026 club teams in the nation in small-sided indoor play. |
I like this list too. I've watched Lake Braddock a few times and they may surprise some people. New coach and some dynamic players.West Springfield may not be top 10, they lost some of the best players last year that will be hard to replace. Maybe swap out WS for LB. |
Lake Braddock would be my #6 on that excellent ranking. Replace battlefield at #6 with LB, keep c-ville at 7, Madison at 8 and put battlefield at 9 or even 10.
Wild that 5 through 11 is even in consideration. Who saw centreville even being discussed in a top 20 conversation even 3 years ago? |
Disagree on putting Lake Braddock anywhere on this list. The team may have impressed in StJ Winter League (which has been highlighted above as being nothing more than glorified scrimmages), but there are major problems brewing. #22 and #4 will only pass the each other and do not involve any other players. And that attitude will poison the team. It won't take long for opposing coaches to figure out if one of those two players has the ball it should be an automatic double team while locking off the other. The new coach will have his hands full building a TEAM. |
Trouble at the Vacation Lake House is brewing!! |
There is a reason they are called Lake Badluck... |

I don’t understand the talk about centreville? Really, what’s going on out there? Can someone explain the hype around them?
Not trying to bad mouth them or anything and maybe I missed something going on out there. Thanks! |
What about Madison this year? They used to be a powerhouse. Why are they ranked so low? |
If the two Yorktown players referenced don’t play this season 6A will not have an overwhelming favorite. Battlefield will get their usual cakewalk to states. Outside this 6A seems up for grabs. In 5A Riverside’s best days are behind them. In 4A Dominion has one year left before their program drops off. |
Just my two cents, so take it for what it's worth. Within 6A the favorite has to go to:
Oakton this year, but make no bones about it, it's the only year they have a shot at states as they have nothing coming up in the pipeline after their core senior group graduates and will suffer for years. They have 2 very good middies but it will boil down to how well the coach understands his players strengths and weaknesses and of course not riding his players into the ground to prevent injury. Oakton is very predictable at what they do, if they change it up, they could go all the way. Yorktown is right behind Oakton, pending if the rumors are true and a couple key players decide not to play this year. Strong head coach that knows the game and how to teach the game, excellent at planning ahead for big games. Battlefield looks very good this year with a solid goalie and core group of seniors. Question is- can they hang with the top Fairfax County teams Woodson will always be in contention to fight for states, couple solid players and goalie position with some key veterans coming back. Question is- can the coach actually coach his players and come up with a good game plan. Robinson will be in contention as well as they always have athletes but lost some key players from last year. Some decent talent coming up the ranks but do they have the horses to keep up with the other teams mentioned above?? Langley lost a ton of players last year but is on the way down to being an average public school team. Their achilles heal is their head coach, she has no respect from the players and parents and doesnt understand how to use her players wisely and actually coach in big games. With that said, they will be way stronger on defense as a whole with a rock solid goalie and a couple athletic defenders to anchor her. Offense will be mediocre at best with only really one attacker and middie. Cville- This is my pick for my sleeper team, dont count them out as they have a great coach who knows the game and building a solid program. They have a couple athletes that can play, but their weakness will be on defense. Don't take them lightly as they will come back to bite you. Madison- Couple returning seniors but they will be slightly above average but will not make a run at states. Just like Langley, their reign is over and on the downfall. Their coach needs to step up and start building the program from the youth on up, some decent younger talent but they will rely heavily on a couple seniors. Again, just my opinion, you are welcome to disagree, but i think the big factor will be injuries. If one of these teams loses a key player or two, they are cooked. |
