The valid reason is that he is now tied with Biden. Democrats *still* haven't learned that pushing their social issues so aggressively is harming them.

Democrats started the culture wars, and now they're all upset that people like DeSantis are fighting back.

But sure, drag queen events in school are a winning approach for the Democratic party.

This whole post is a hot contradictory mess.

Biden won because folks voted against Trump.

And now the shoe will be on the other vote. Biden blew his chance and is going down hard in history like Carter. But he took care of his family and I have no doubt his assets are protected as well of those of his dirt bag son. The Dems need to scrape together someone better than KamKam or Mayor Pete. Yikes.

But there is no teaching about sexuality in K-3. That’s the point. It’s just a culture war on a bogeyman

Unless you mean a childrens picture book about a family of two dads, then you can suck eggs.

If this isnt happening, then there should be no complaint about the legislation.

Keep liking him more and more.

Vet, advised Seal Team One. Deployed to Iraq so he knows most vets like myself don’t want another war, only one house, not super rich worked for what he has.

Unlike Biden, who is a senile 50 year career politician with corrupt family ties and has never had a real job.

DeSantis speaks to most Americans. He’s one of the regular people not some Washingtonian elite who. It only has never really ever worked but has nothing but disdain for regular Americans.

DeSantis and Rand Paul would be a god-send

This is the left's line, but some analysis Ive read shows he is gaining prominance through the opposite- he picks topics that have very widespread support. For example, the ill-named "dont say gay" bill polled very well, with even the majority of Ds supporting it. That is why media had to recast it and claim it forbade talking about homosexuality.

+1
It was never about "don't say gay," but of course that was the left's desperate spin. So pathetic.

Nope, that's not what I mean at all. There was a long thread listing exactly what the family life curriculum for K-3 involved, and it was heavy on "gender identity" and other issues that young kids simply don't need to even think about. It had nothing to do with family composition - two dads/two moms/whatever. And you people know this. You simply can't resist twisting everything to suit your narrative.

And "suck eggs"? Seriously?

Yeah, the bill was widely supported by parents and when people actually were told what was in it rather than the leftist propaganda it was even more supported. Like 95 percent of parents were for it one they were told what was in it in an article I read.

Regardless - teaching kids about transgenders and drag queen story hours aren’t really winning positions for a political party to take. Also with someone telling people they’re racists and how our country is racist doesn’t work well either. The woke BS doesn’t matter and matters even less when people need to decide if they’re going to fill up the tank or eat that day as is the case with a lot of Americans now. And having a senile old man yelling nonsense and talking like he’s lost his marbles isn’t reassuring

DeSantis isn’t a super wealthy career Washington elite who has enriched himself in the backs of Americans. He’s likeable, he actually stands up to the sycophantic media and is more of a regular Joe then the senile in office now.

I thought this thread was about predictions regarding who would win in a Biden/DeSantis match up.

That would be a fairly interesting conversation- thinking about what motivates voters, what conditions on the ground matter, what type of person could swing those voters that aren't entrenched in a party....

Instead, we seem to be talking about who we personally would want to win, with a good mix of general mudslinging.

So boring and predictable....

I voted for Biden because I will never vote for another Republican every again, after what they have tried to do to the US.

+1 I would illegally vote twice to vote for Biden over DeSantis.

I think Little D has painted himself into a bit of a corner. He could have seemed like a normie R who could have appealed to disaffected Ds and Is, but instead he went full throttle culture war. Who do you think wants all this anti-gay legislation? Who wants petty vindictive attacks on Disney - Disney?!

But I do worry.

I laughed because the Democrats really are ignorant of how unpopular so much of the culture wars they pushed are among most Americans. I'm pretty let and live but the extreme trans activism is decidedly off putting and not healthy and I do have concerns with how the left progressives seem to want to normalize highly dubious concepts like gender spectrums and transitions without the proper public discourse that is fair and appropriate. No wonder the Democrats are going to get thrashed in November and DeSantis will absolutely demolish Biden and probably lost Democrats in 2024 if the party continues to pretend most people don't care or are worried about a lot of the extreme woke progressive stances.

DeSantis would win in a landslide.

I would predict he would win nearly all states, with the possible exception of CA and NY.

Although, the way things have been going in these two states.... even Dems are getting sick of their leaders.

DeSantis scares the hell out of me. He will make Trump look like a walk in the park.

Andy Beshear, current governor of Kentucky. This is a Democrat who was able to win in one of the reddest states in the nation. This is a governor who is used to dealing with a legislature that holds a supermajority in both chambers. This is a governor who is not afraid to stand up to said legislature and to make sweeping changes, like firing the entire school Board of Education and replacing them.

He's young (44), smart and charismatic and would be a strong candidate to step up and fill the void.

Unfortunately, too many of the current crop of Democratic governors are minorities or women. And while Democrats really want to push for a women or minority, now is not the time or political atmosphere to do so. Pushing that agenda will only hurt the party who is currently fighting a large uphill battle. If in 2023, the economy is strong, inflation and gas prices are down and the international political scene has calmed somewhat, then the party could consider a minority or female candidate. But fighting that battle while also fighting a negative political environment is a lose-lose situation. The Democrats have to accept reality that the majority of the country is going to vote for a white male at this time.

Florida seems to have come through the epidemic smelling like a rose too. Economy is good, people flocked there etc. I'm curious to know what Florida's real, actual Covid death toll is, though.

Florida is cheap and has no snow, and lots of shoreline. That outweighs almost everything else.

Florida isn’t cheap anymore

HRC actually did win the majority of the popular vote. Republicans easily vote for female senators and congresswomen and governors. It's not a question of people refusing to vote for anything but a white male. It's policies that matter.

The Democrats seem single minded on identity politics elevating lackluster or controversial candidates with unpopular policies. And that is the problem. The party is dominated by the activists, which prevents a proper moderate from breaking through. And a proper moderate is someone who can say, hey, hold on, some of the extreme CRT and trans / gender activists aren't helpful and maybe it's not the best idea to have drag queens performing lewd acts at "family friendly" events, let alone visitng elementary schools. But the party won't allow it, which is why the Republicans are rapidly seizing the middle ground as the voice of "sanity."

The reason DeSantis and others are having winning recognition by portraying the Democrats as extremists is because, well, some of the Democratic policies are extremist. I don't think it's helpful for Biden to boast about banning detransitioning therapy when a growing number of former trans are coming out about detransitioning, so it's quite evidently a real thing. And it's not helpful when the party seems more concerned about exposing elementary kids to gender politics than inflation.
