Meeting a Guy in Big Law

I met a ton when I worked at a law firm. They definitely slept around - many were divorced or remarried. I don't mess around with co workers though. You are not missing much. The one lawyer I did date (at another firm) was very noncommittal and arrogant, and I would bet money he is not married, years later.

Forgot to add, this young woman used to bake cookies for our kids for BLP husband to take home. My kids laughed and ate the cookies. It became a massive in joke with my husband and family. Cringy but funny

In all truth, if you’re after a married or divorced BLP you’d be disappointed with what’s left over financially. If you’re after a young associate, it’s uncertain and you’ll wait. Finance? Try selling coffee on Wall Street. BTW has anyone watched Industry on Showtime. Totally true — I miss those days!

NP, also had a woman from *my* work bake cookies for DH. I ate them, he doesn't care for cookies. They were delicious!

But in seriousness I admit I get defensive when I see big law attorneys just work 14 hours a day and have no life and their wives and kids never see them except they are also cheating and are raging alcoholics. I’m positive that is true for some but it’s not true for literally any big law attorney I know personally. My husband is a big law partner and I’m not in big law but I’m an attorney and many of my friends are, and the above description doesn’t match any of them.

+3 another big law wife here. My DH leaves work at 4:30 every day so he can eat dinner with us and he gives the kids their bath. All of his fellow partners are married and involved dads. Also...if he leaves me I'm getting everything and he knows that so good luck to any intrepid first years I guess.

+4 - My DH always says that he has the good side of the deal in terms of our marriage. We have 3 kids, I am still in shape and workout, work full time and make 6 figures and take care of the kids. Plus I have been with him way before he made any money. So if he cheats on me and leaves me I will take him for everything he is worth. And he knows it.

Geez. Sounds like a great marriage tied together by money and the fear of losing it. How romantic.

They were just plain across the board. Even some of the better looking ones had plain wives. And I can attest that most of the women in law school were not exceptionally good looking, so if they met them there, that would explain a lot.
