Saw these rankings on the other lax forum site (and updated some records after today's games) Looks pretty accurate to me, but I'll defer to the main ranker guy and his team of "editors"

*Updated Nova Top 10

1. Robinson (8-0) Great FOGOs* and deepest team all around (dismantled Chantilly today by 18)

2. Riverside (5-1) Best/deepest team in 5A

3. Battlefield (6-0) Best goalie, great team ball. Coach Suthers getting it done!

4. Patriot (4-1) Great individual talent who can take over games

5. Freedom (3-2) Tough team, might make some noise in the playoffs

6. Yorktown (4-2) Great defense and some offensive weapons with cannons

7. Lake Braddock (6-1) Arguably the best offensive duo in the state (tight 2 goal win over Oakton today)

8. John Champe (3-2) Enough talent to get to a region semi-final or final

9. Briar Woods (5-2) Solid team who could shock some teams come playoff time (beat Meridian by 7 today)

10. Madison (6-3) Strong defensive players and attackmen. Missing Coach Fitzgerald (handled West Po by 10 today)

Definitely favor the "Unofficial" rankings, particularly with the strong local commentary and balanced write-up by the editorial team. other rankings from lax websites use some wacky algorithms they use for every other state and exclude any local knowledge or first hand impressions.

Games this week at Robinson tournament (both at Robinson and Woodson sites) have been strong (even with few kids missing due to spring break). Look forward to final day today.

I'm not willing to put Robinson over Riverside, especially if Riverside is healthy. I watched the scrimmage and believed RS was the better team. And that was without their 5 star UVA commit and two of their strong middies playing (I think the was is a Gettysburg commit). Unfortunately though, I'm not sure RS is ever going to be healthy this year.

I don't understand why these two teams don't play each other during the season.

If you drop the 5A teams then the 6A team rankings are essentially the same. Freedom looks pretty good, but I don't buy John Champe at #8 - they lost to Battlefield 15-6 and were down to Patriot 15-2 at halftime (at least according to the reporters here). Robinson/Riverside is too close to call and won't get decided this year. Riverside plays Patriot tonight so that will be interesting.

Riverside beat Robinson in a pre-season scrimmage without their best d-pole (UVa commit) so would put them #1.

That's really not a surprise. Will be curious to see how W-L does against Yorktown tonight. Nothing, other than an W-L win, would really be a shocker. I'd guess Yorktown wins by 10-12 goals. W-L can have trouble scoring, and they are not likely to have the possession very often, so I can see them being limited to just a few goals.

It's pre-season. Coaches try different schemes and test out new players. I wouldn't give it too much weight.

Guys - please note the thread subject. It's "6A" results and rankings. Rarely play in regular season so not pertinent to compare/contrast.

I've been impressed with several of the goalies at the tourney. Their teams aren't doing so well, but they are playing really well.

Heard couple coaches talking together about this exact thing - that goalies have been playing out of their minds - even in some of the higher scoring games.

Caught both the LB/Oakton game (great game throughout, neither team had lead more than 2, came down to couple possessions at end) and some of Woodson/McLean game (good competitive game). Robinson game on the other hand...

West Potomac v. Oakton today is probably the only game that will impact rankings (assuming no major upsets), as both teams are still fighting for spots in the bottom half of the top 10. Live feed has been off for some games (or active at the wrong school), so if anyone has insights from that game later today please share.

Agreed. Robinson is really good but even so that score against Chantilly was surprising. McLean looks better than their 2-5 record. LB and Oakton play a similar style and are pretty evenly matched.
