Date announced to name new MCPS Superintendent. It’s February 8th.

Is it too much to hope for someone capable and competent?
What a disaster we have in our hands now. A lot of confusion, too many emails in all different directions and lack of focus on one thing that is education for kids.

They have deliberately fast tracked it now in order to prevent resentment of McKnight from growing and making the decision too close to the election. The BOE and specifically, Brenda Wolff, need to go.

I agree with you.

What will the unions do if the Board hires her? Any chance that they will strike?

they won’t do anything. All of these proclamations of no confidence and strongly worded letters are exactly that just a bunch of nothing.

I think everybody needs to pay attention to this hire. If the board hires Dr. McKnight everybody needs to take their vote of no confidence to the voting booths and vote the Board of Education out.

We'll be voting with our money and leaving the county.

enrollment numbers show people voting with their feet and leaving

When is the next elections to vote the BOE out? MCPS use to be highly rated, not anymore. Where is the transparency? Why did the BOE get rid of mid-terms and finals? Our kids are going to have a hard time in college when they fully understand what a mid-term and final is. All of these do-overs is too much. How can anyone fail in MCPS?

That's a one-off pandemic related enrollment decrease in school of about 6000 students. There are about 158,000 students in MCPS and next year the enrollment will go up.
The county population increases every year despite doomsday predictions from DCUM for the last 15 years.
Like I said, don't let the door hits ya where the good Lord split ya.

There have not been finals in MCPS for about 10 years and MCPS students are still doing great in colleges.

There are elections this year for four board seats. The primary is June 28th and the general is Nov. 8th. District 1 (incumbent Judy Docca), District 3 (incumbent Scott Joftus, recent appointee), District 5 (incumbent Brenda Wolff), and one at-large seat (incumbent Karla Silvestre) are on the ballot. Joftus and Silvestre have filed for reelection, and Wolff has stated she intends to. We don't know if Docca will run again. Only two challengers have filed: Jay Guan from District 1, and Julie Yang from District 3. All voters can vote for candidates from all districts.

Instead, this is Dr. McKnight’s priority:

Priorities and focus is nothing related to education of children. Its all about political activism now a days.

I am surprised that we are at this point where everyone teachers, staff and students and parents are disappointed and discouraged by the incompetencies

She's excellent and learned from the best. We would be very lucky if she takes the job.

Mmmkay. Sinking ship.

Speaking of Mr. Smith, it will be great if he comes back and straighten the ship again

Are they getting better at keeping things quiet or will McKnight automatically get the job because they really didn't do a deep search into anyone else?

I wonder that too. Everything is behind the closed doors now. No transparency at all.

That’s Brenda Wolff and it’s intentional. We should expect better. The process has clearly been orchestrated to anoint McKnight. Regardless of your feelings about her, people should be very concerned about the lack of an open and transparent process.
