Date announced to name new MCPS Superintendent. It’s February 8th.

Is it too much to hope for someone capable and competent?
What a disaster we have in our hands now. A lot of confusion, too many emails in all different directions and lack of focus on one thing that is education for kids.

Wow - that seems so soon. I feel like the last time we at least heard names of candidates. This time nada.

Are they getting better at keeping things quiet or will McKnight automatically get the job because they really didn't do a deep search into anyone else?

I wonder that too. Everything is behind the closed doors now. No transparency at all.

And Jack Smith works for the consulting firm for the Superintendent search. Hmm.

Parents don’t like Dr. McKnight. Two unions gave her last month votes of no confidence.

The Board can’t possibly be thinking to choose Dr. McKnight. Why no mention of a slate of candidates though?

If it's not Dr. McKnight, I would be shocked

Yes don’t they care that parents AND staff are not happy with her leadership?

It's gonna be Dr. McKnight. I can't imagine the BoE completely neutering her the final 4 1/2 months of her interim contract.

MCEA has no confidence in her. The Administrators Union wrote a scathing letter about her, but the incompetent BoE will turn their collective heads and hire her anyway.

Thank God I'm retiring!

I am floored that with the lack of planning for COVID, the chaotic return after winter break, one student murdered, one student shot in a school bathroom, a loaded gun found in another school, numerous fights, and combine those events with two unions casting a vote of no confidence, the BOE is going to give McKnight the permanent job??? The talent pool must have been real slim pickings.

Ugh.

January 2022 was the most violent month in MCPS school history. What good is an education if you are killed in the process?

Instead, this is Dr. McKnight’s priority:

It’s McKnight. No way they would make a decision this quickly. Guessing her people felt she was hanging out there as ‘interim’. Discovery Channel peeps have got to be really excited. Their twenty year dream of selling curriculum ( ie shark videos) is at hand…

Quickly? They already interviewed 12 people.
