New Superintendent to be named on February 8th

This is what MCPS wanted in a Superintendent last November:

Any chance they would consider bumping up a leader with a track record for safe schools?

Seriously, Dr. McKnight has shown herself to be a tone deaf candidate in the midst of an absolute crisis of a school system. Her coordination of a pink mask with a pink coat when an MCPS student was critically shot in an MCPS school shows how out of touch she is with students and staff. Her lack of visiting schools and actually rolling up her sleeves to teach when MCPS was face with staffing shortages shows her reluctance to leave her ivory tower.

In hope it is not Mcnight. We need a fresh start without the baggage of Covid and school shootings. -a MCPS teacher

I agree with you.

What will the unions do if the Board hires her? Any chance that they will strike?

Instead, this is Dr. McKnight’s priority:

What does this mean? So, they spend money on an audit, then what?

Why not audit school security? It’s all about the buzz and not substantially making improvements for students.

Oh, it’s right there in the title - she intends to address the institutional racism in MCPS. Top priority of the contractor who was hired to find the next superintendent. Her letter to the MCPS community happens to align with today’s announcement that the new superintendent will be named on February 8th.

Are they getting better at keeping things quiet or will McKnight automatically get the job because they really didn't do a deep search into anyone else?

I wonder that too. Everything is behind the closed doors now. No transparency at all.

And Jack Smith works for the consulting firm for the Superintendent search. Hmm.

Was he part of this assignment? Talk about a major conflict of interest.

The worsening educational outcomes and growing inequity in MCPS is astounding. They throw out buzz words and choose leaders based on superficial criteria all while trying to gloss over the harmful outcomes that they are directly responsible for. When will this county come to its senses and realize MCPS is literally FAILING its students, staff and community at large? When will MCPS be held accountable for its dismal performance?

MCPS is only as awful as the Board of Ed allows it to get.

They are the ones who are choosing the Superintendent. There’s very little parents, principals, and teachers have agreed on since March 2020 but we all agree that Dr. McKnight should not be the next Superintendent. The last month only reinforced how she doesn’t have a clue to plan and lead.

Quickly? They already interviewed 12 people.

Yeah but term doesn’t start until July. It’s February.

My guess is McKnight as well. And, it's a disaster, and MCOS will continue the downward slide. Her leadership has been awful, the BOE is a mess, such a shame from what was once a great school system

The article linked above said no he wasn't working on this assignment.

McKnight has been horrible.

I preferred the MCPS/MoCo leadership in 2020-spring 2021

I am assuming it will be McKnight but I feel that is a horrible decision. She has done a horrible job this year on all accounts and no stakeholders respect her.
