Yeah especially when obtaining weed in MoCo is pretty easy, but it's expensive ($250 for the doctor and another $50 or so for the application to the state).

Couldn’t they just venture into DC to a dispensary, especially if one of them was 18? I don’t partake so I’m unsure of the logistics (perhaps you need a prescription even though it is decriminalized?). It just seems like there has to be an easier way to get marijuana than murdering someone in a stairwell.

Cost. A friend of mine in DC is in his 30s and uses marijuana daily. He said it's a lot cheaper to get from a street dealer. Well, not some gun-toting thug -- a more "refined" dealer that caters to the millennial crowd.

How will the wealthy white guys get rich off “legal pot” with friends like yours.

Your friend is an idiot. He might be getting it for $35 an eighth instead of $40+, but he probably has no idea what he's getting (strand, sativa or indica) and it could have something else in it. Even if the dealer says they know, I wouldn't trust a freaking drug dealer.

The govt should not limit licenses for legal weed to wealthy white dudes if you’re worried about “bad weed”.

Killing over marijuana, that is insane.

Most drug-related homicides in Montgomery County are related to marijuana.

Have they released the age or name of the victim? I’m somewhat surprised to learn that a weed dealer lives a couple blocks away from that shopping center. Wondering if it’s a college student or young adult that lives with parents. Or maybe selling weed is more profitable than Seth Rogan movies would lead me to believe.

Normaly they don't release the names of juvenile offenders, even if they are charged as adults. Same for mugshots -- not for juveniles.

This part is interesting to me because I thought if they were charged as adults then the record was public etc. otherwise why wouldn’t they just be charged with juveniles?

The Post said the victim was 33. They have not id'd him publicly yet.

I’m guessing here, but it might be to give juveniles charged as adults the benefit of anonymity, should they be found not guilty — while allowing for adult - level consequences if they are found guilty. If this assumption is correct, I can understand why this might be used for older juveniles who have been accused of committing extremely serious and/or violent crimes.

Lawrence Wilson Jr.

I wouldn't assume the victim lives in Bethesda or Chevy Chase.

They weren't trying to buy 2 oz. of weed from the victim for their own personal use, obviously.

The IFC team works with children from the District of Columbia who have been removed from their birth parents and placed in licensed foster homes in Maryland. The children we serve may have been left home alone or lived in deplorable home conditions; are coping with educational delays and medical neglect; many have been physically or sexually abused, and/or left with unwilling caregivers. Some children have witnessed their parents struggling with drug dependency, domestic violence, or serious emotional limitations that affect their ability to parent safely.
