Almost none from moco. They data would not compromise privacy of anyone but the program administrators that hide from accountability. This is not a right wing position. It is the position of someone that wants the best for the kids. They are not being properly supervised and the consequences are dire. |
| I want to call and express concern about this, but have no idea where to start. I would like to know that Whitman has a plan to support kids known to be at risk and to keep the Whitman community safe. I would also like to know to whom the program is accountable? Is it tax payer funded? Their response to the community is disgusting and deeply concerning, not to mention the fact that they failed to mention the victim of this brutal killing. The Greentree GAP program is acting in the place of parents for these kids. If the kids were able to do something so heinous and it go unnoticed, they need to answer to the kids and to the community for this failure. But I don't want to waste time venting- would really appreciate any suggestions of the best place to contact to get some greater oversight and safety for everyone, both the community and the other kids in this program. |
Maybe start with the board, pta,s, and congressman. If the Michigan school shooter's parents are facing charges...then it stands to reason that the facility should face investigation at a minimum. |
Thanks for these ideas. I'll start here. |
Reach out to elected officials, including council members, state assembly and state senator. The program received substantial state and county funds. A proper question of county officials are why county funds are used to support out of county kids and likewise for state elected regarding kids from DC. After that, the questions about controls and accountability are extremely important. |
It’s notable and speaks volumes that the only person who referred to these kids as “garbage” is the PPP who claims to be supporting them and defending the program. I would suggest that Greentree GAP doesn’t want supporters like that. |

The insanity...
The Greentree shelter has been there for decades (probably longer than most of those posting here). They have helped thousands of families. Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. |
How do you know? They do not publish data. They could be a Foster mill. Where is the oversight. Don't make claims without proof. You are not helping them but allowing them to operate without scrutiny. |
Link? Please citeyour claim. |
LAZY - you can look up the rest yourself, but here's to get you started: Their website, https://nccf-cares.org/ We serve nearly 50,000 vulnerable children, youth, and families each year in the D.C. Metro area NCCF - arrived at the Bethesda location in 1930 Adolescent program started at that location in 1973, eligible youth are assessed using Maryland State guidelines and are referred to this community-based care from all over the state. GAP’s goal is either to successfully return each individual young person to their family, or to equip the youth for independent living. |

| This thread has turned into an absolute arse-load of idiots repeating themselves, knowing nothing but spouting vitriol. |
Thank you, good ideas |
