Teen DD has worn PJ bottoms to school every day for two weeks

I wish I could wear pj bottoms to the office.

Doesn't seem a whole lot different than the Zubaz pants we wore in the 90s. Except those were probably uglier than the pj patterns, ha.

Interesting, my twin middle schoolers have started throwing on PJ pants to go to gymnastics practices and ballet rehearsals. I argued about it a few times and then decided it wasn't the hill I wanted to die on. I had no idea it was a broader fashion trend but now it makes so much more sense.

Its just the fashion of the moment or kids just don’t care because they aren’t super into fashion for just attending school. It’s no different than when Tech ditched Suits & Ties as corporate attire for Jeans, or how lots of people are now into Athlesiure attire.

It’s a thing. In my private high school, we had a uniform with khaki pants. Obviously we couldn’t wear pajama pants outright, but we wore them underneath our khakis and pulled them down so the PJs showed. Kind of like boys showing their boxers. But girls and boys did it, we all did. This was in central California, so not as if it was really cold and necessary to layer like this. Just weird teen fashion trend.

I have boys but my nieces are all doing this. I'm all for wearing sleepwear or lounge wear in school. Maybe the trend will catch on in the work place. I have some dark monotone tops and pants made of sweatpants/sweatshirt material that falls loosely and I consider it dressy enough for work. It is certainly a better trend than crop tops, super short shorts, leggings, and letting one's bras straps show through.

This is hilarious! Were you crazy hot?

How would those PJ pants fit under khakis?

I think PJ pants are great. In fact, I'm not sure who it was that decided that elastic waist flannel pants are necessarily PJ pants. Flannel is a great fabric -- warm, comfortable, wears well. And elastic waist is great, especially for teens who might have weird body sizes as they grow. I was NOT a fan of "eggings as pants" and often told me daughter to go up and put on pants (and also won't let my son wear the very revealing jog pants to school). And the low rise with the butt crack showing was even worse. I am TeamPJPant all the way. (Are we still doing that thread where we pick DCUM teams? I am TeamLeggingsAren'tPants but TeamFlannelPJsArePants.

My kid sleeps in a light nightshirt, and saves the PJ Pants for school or hanging out with friends. It's also a really cute look with doc martens and a denim jacket or cardigan.

You’re kidding yourself. There ‘s nothing cute about it.

Sloppy, lazy, not creative and just ridiculous. Stop trying a hard to make these “cute”, trendy or inventive.

I remember driving home from college and my mother being shocked asking “are you wearing pajama bottoms?!” I wore them everywhere. I am a presentable adult who doesn’t go out in pjs now. It will be okay.

Revolting - and probably banned except for on dress up days for kindergarten.

"Revolting" really? Have you seen what else is in style right now? Panama bottoms are the girls best option.

Eh, I see grown men wearing them in coffee shops. I find that more offensive.

I've seen this on grown men shopping at Balducci's.
