| Is this a thing now, or is it just my quirky DD? She wears pajama bottoms literally every day (to high school), and plans to continue indefinitely. Obviously she’s not overly concerned with being fashionable and I’m certainly not going to micromanage what she wears - it’s her choice. But I’m just wondering if she’s the only one? |
| eh I used to do this in hs and college. nothing new |
|
I’d say that 1/3rd of the girls I see at pickup wear PJ bottoms.
|
| My DD’s do this as well. |
| Not sure about school but I see high school girls in PJ pants when we go out for breakfast/lunch or shopping on the weekends all the time. |
| I see the high schoolers arriving at Strathmore for their weekly orchestra rehearsal and a solid quarter of them (perhaps more) are in pyjama bottoms or sweatpants. I suppose they've been wearing them all day, not just for the evening, but who knows... |
|
Nah, we all did it in college and I still do it now occasionally. my dd did it in HS too and does it in college. It is a fashion statement in its own right.
Totally fine, let her be comfy before she starts some job as an adult and has to wear some horrible suit with shoulder pads |
| Hopefully it's not the same pair of pajama bottoms? Maybe offer to buy some sweatpants? Leggings? But really not the hill I'd die on. Think of it as loungewear and move on.... |
| presumably they cause less visual offense than the dreaded leggings… |
|
My daughter told me to notice middle school fashion as I was picking her up from the bus and for girls it was basically just sweatpants! I guess it’s the style.
Better than low-rise jeans. |

I was on Team Teen in the hoodie post, but pj bottoms are a different story. Are they clean, is she making the effort to get dressed in the morning and intentionally choosing the pj? Any signs of mental health issues or body issues? Would she wear real pants if the situation dictated pj are really inappropriate, like college rep visiting.
For Christmas could you purchase her solid colored ones that look less pj. |
Sadly, all public school girls in ms and hs in MD are dressing like this. |
It’s not a fashion statement. It’s lazy. |
| I would just be sure that she is eating normally and not trying to hide her shape. |
