| It is exactly the same as all the teen boys wearing comfy athletic pants to school. |
If I remember correctly....no matter what a girl wears there were comments so at least I was comfortable in PJ/sweatpants. It was also less laundry to do. One outfit for the whole day
My general attitude was F it. Im here to learn and sleep when I was not actively learning anything. A lot easier to take naps in PJs. My circadian rhythm has always been slightly later so being at school at 720am was torture. I would fall asleep in the shower sometimes. I could not fall asleep before 1130. I tried. I took melatonin. I smoked weed. I would just lay there in bed. Id get off. Id have warm milk. I played sports. I had a PT job. Multiple AP classes. I was busy and tired but it Did. Not. Matter. Plus do you remember how HOT schools are in the winter. PJs are the perfect level of coverage and breathability. T-shirt and hoodie on top. T-shirt for normal classroom and hoodie for random cool classroom (one with lots of windows) and for going in/out of the school. |

It's just the general covid era. I went shopping for a skirt for my DD's choral performance. They were in really short supply. What had replaced them was basically pajamas for work. The kids got used to wearing PJs all day long and they're not willing to give that up.

Pot meet kettle. |
You need to shop online. Amazon has lots of "performance/dance/concert" type clothing, which unfortunately is all polyester, but at at least it's something. I have the same trouble with my child's orchestra dress requirements. |
Guess your kid wears these to school 🤡 |
No, it’s not. Sweats are a level up from pajama pants. |
| This was definitely against my dress code growing up (as well as leggings). |
| It’s just sloppy. When you’re out and about you can tell which kids go to public school. |
It screams 'depression'. Much like Ally Sheedy's Breakfast Club character. I see some high school kids in our neighborhood shuffling around during the day in Crocs and pajama bottoms. It's ridiculous. |

I have an 8th grader and Sophomore.
The only time either one of them has worn pj bottoms was the 8th grader once this year for 'pajama day'. Flannel pj bottoms with a hoodie. I am so glad my older one has to wear khakis and belt to school. BUT--I'd much prefer seeing girls in pj bottoms than in the teeny tiny midriff tops and the booty butt-cheek shorts that were popular in the past. |

Very normal.
However, this is the hill my husband choses to die on. He refuses to allow our daughter (or sons when they were teens) to wear PJ pants to school. She can wear them over her practice clothes for her sport in the evening. That's their compromise. |
You’re right PP. Parents should make their children wear proper clothes which would most certainly resolve all mental health issues. Right? You must be dumb as rocks. My kid is autistic, anxious and depressed. What she wears is the least of my worries so long as she’s bathed and her clothes are clean. Her lack of fashion sense isn’t exactly my top priority when I’m doing everything I can to hold my family together and get her the limited resources available to treat her issues. You are clueless, judgmental and insensitive and likely would fall apart if you were in my shoes. |

Drives me crazy. My daughter wears leggings about half the time, jeans maybe one day a week, and pajama pants one day a week. I can't stand it. Also, I'm trying to pick my battles.
ITA about keeping an eye on whether she's trying to hide her body. And I agree that girls get picked apart and shamed no matter what they wear, so they might as well roll through this phase. |
