There are 2 divisions-- and each region has a team for each division: 1 for rising 9-10 and 1 for rising 11-12. Our boys both tried out a couple of times, and it was a positive experience for them (no injuries). In the past, there have been lots of college coaches in attendance. In fact, we saw it as one of the cheaper ways to get exposure, even if you didn't make it. It is local, no hotel costs, lots of coaches on only a few fields (as opposed to tournaments where they are walking all over the place and may happen to be on field 12 when your kid is shining on field 2). Good luck

One of the problems with open tryouts. I'd say over half of the kids I watched did not even have the basic skills or lacrosse IQ down, so try to make up for it with brute force.

Good to know. I'll give DS a heads up to look out for those kids as we need no injuries.

Thanks. Good to hear there are plenty of coaches. Glad your boys came through having a positive experience and uninjured.

It is a good experience and lots of fun since almost everybody the boys know are there. But be realistic. Unless your HS or club coach has told one of the coaches to watch your son he is not getting looks and probably not making one of the teams.

It was amazing. My daughter couldn't believe she got to get a few pointers from these amazing players. What a cool perk of living in the DMV!

Is there 1 team per grade in HS or just 1 Command and 1 Highlight team from each region? Anybody willing to share advice - are there hundreds of kids there so we need to arrive super early even if registered?

Have you been livng under a rock? They created the Highlight division 2 years ago?

LOL.

I say Ben Reeves (Yale) and Sam Appuzo (BC).

And I called it! Congrats to both. Perfect choices by the foundation. Both truly outstanding players.

Sure, everyone knew it would be Ben but not Sam. Most were predicting Marie McCool or Megan Whittle. All were deserving but Sam, coming from BC which has built itself up to a national contender while she was playing for them, was the best choice this year.

They were all amazing choices. I think Sam set herself apart with her play in the tournament.

I'm glad you're trying to undermine that "all lacrosse players are jerks" image.

does anyone know how the DCE team is doing in the HARCO league this Spring?

Yes, let's hear about this HARCO league?

I thought it was the Howard County or HoCo league. DCE 2022 team did not have a successful season in the league. The DCE 2022 team is not at the same level of the 2021 team.
