The lawsuit against Royal Caribbean/toddler death

Set up by the family. They didn’t think there were cameras.

He refused a BAC.

I heard RC’s statement yesterday. Before this, I had never heard a business comment on pending litigation. The statement was very specific. I was surprised.

Even if it was negligent not to have warning signs - and I’m not saying it was - that was not the proximate cause of that little girl’s death.

I think money is behind all publicity of this case. The lawyer getting free publicity. The family: grandpa seeking to keep his job and pension. The family: Chloe was an infertility baby. So having another baby (if they do that) is apt to be very expensive. So everyone is motivated to get $ from RC. Ironically if they had kept it with less publicity they probably would have gotten some sort of settlement. But now RC will be defending themselves to the bitter end.

Why hasn't there been more information about this? Does Royal Carribean have footage of him drinking?

This thread is going off the rails.

Grandpa a possible murderer?

I think this was just a careless, freak accident.
Perhaps there was negligence involved, that is open to interpretation by those who know the cold, hard facts of this case, etc.

The family should not be so hell bent on lining their pockets w/cash.
Any money they would get would be blood money.

I strongly advise them to cease concentrating so much on suing & more energy into grieving the huge loss of their beloved baby girl.

There are no shortcuts in the healing process.
They need to focus on their pain + suffering now vs. trying to place blame.

Nothing.....not all the $$ in the world will ever bring their daughter back again.
It is time to move on.

Freak accident? No, not by a long shot.

It sounds like grandpa was drinking, or was taking medication that interacted badly with one small drink, or was senile and forgetful.

I doubt the family realized how incapacitated he was, and blamed the open window, without realizing that grandpa had already leaned out the window and should have known.

People do negligent things sometimes-- I recall my father holding me on the railing of a bridge with one arm when I was very young-- if I had wiggled or he had slipped, I would be dead. He was early twenties and just a terrible father with poor judgement. Once, when I was seven, he took me hunting, went off to track something, and left me alone in the presence of a loaded gun. When he returned, I was busy exploring the gun, holding it, pointing it, etc.

That new video is so painful to watch. I’ve judged the family and their trashy lawyer for suing RC, but have so much sympathy for the parents only now (presumably) seeing that video. I just don’t think anybody could stand by grandpa after seeing it. So very sad.

I don’t think they actually made a statement did they? They filed a motion to dismiss in court, which becomes public record. Their “statement” was just taken from their court filing.

I don’t think it’s been officially reported either way. At least not that I’ve seen.

How awful. He literally puts her out the window it seems.

Ugh, I don’t know that I can bring myself to watch it, as much as I would like to know what really happened.

It's not graphic or close, but grainy security footage. But enough you can tell he was leaning out the open window.

It's here, via the weird talk show commentary. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHKVDMDKZk4

Video.

The parents have known exactly what happened for months. Grandpa was charged based on the video and the details around his indictment included him leaning out the window. Within a few days of the charges being brought, the video was released. The parents then still moved forward with their lawsuit after the charges and release of video.

These are not people acting from grief. These are people - who announced their intent to sue the day AFTER their daughter died - looking for a financial windfall. They are terrible people.
